Getting sick of the WATER!!! weatherstripping....
So my car is pretty old....13 years. The first sign of leakage was in my trunk. I noticed water in the 2 corners in my trunk and came to realize my drain was glogged and my weatherstripping had a tear in it. Easy enough, I unglogged the drain and grabbed a weatherstrip for the trunk from another car and the junkyard. That fixed that problem.
NOW, I get water behind my passenger and driver side seat. I live in Florida and lately it's been POORING every single day. The water is under the carpet and it seems like it's coming from the corner of the door. This isn't just a little bit of water but a lot! dirver side more than the passenger. I grabbed weather stripping (upper door jamb one) from another wrecked car and it didn't do anything.
Does anyone have this same problem? How much is the door strips from the dealer? can it be something else?
THanks
Peter

i had a similar problem except that it was the trim along the top of the rear windshield but grinded the rust out and filled it in with silicone for a quick fix . eventually i will have a new weather strip and a body shop fix it. but from that one spot water got all the way to underneath the front passenger floor and it rusted out a lot of parts in my trunk also.

My 1992 SC400 leaked also
I had just that leak through my driver's side door. My problem was the door hinge. It was wearing out and did not let the door set in the frame properly. I had to replace it (the hinge) and now there is no problem. Somehow, your problem May be in how your door fits in it's frame.

buy lot's of clear silicone.
remove all seals and silicone behind them and put them back in place. Close all doors and let it sit overnight. While you are at it, remove the interior trim and seal around the front and rear glass. Lastly, the sunroof drain can clog and back up into the rear of the car............ how you get that clean is your best guess.
For door panel wetness and discoloration you generally have only 2 options - do it in this order......... (after doing the above)
remove the door panel and reseal the plastic skin very good.
replace the seals that line the window.

I had a leak that came in near the speaker in the passenger door. For years I thought it was the sunroof drains, but I finally traced it to the upper windshield seal. I took black RTV and carefully applied it along the entire seal by pressing it in with my finger and smoothing it out. Now there are no leaks and it looks great.

I have my car at the body shop, and have the same issue of a leak, they suggested and had the problem with a older truck, the rubber flap on the outside that keeps the window from smacking the door, and also in my guess some of the water out, mine is cracked and broken and dose not even touch the glass anymore, he suggested finding a new one, if i can to see if that would fix it, any one know the part or have one around from door they don't use?
