After disconnecting the battery, how long does it take for the ECU to "fine tune" the engine again?Just curious.

You can read anything from 3 to 20mins... The best way to do it is to just pull the fuse

I know that doing that resets the ECU, my question is after reconnecting the battery or replacing the fuse, how long does it take the ECU to recalibrate itself? How long do I have to drive it around? The reason is I just did the whole tune up of my car (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, cleaned TB and plenum, valve cover gaskets, distributor o-ring, timing belt and tensioner, idler pulley, water pump, thermostat, various hoses and such and all mounts) and will need to get the emissions inspection soon.

On a side note, car runs beautifully now. Did most of the work myself except for timing belt and mounts. A great sense of satisfaction seeing the car's improvements in throttle response and smoothness.

According to the service manual's description of operation. The OBDI ECU is optimised at all times. It is not a Learning ECU.
