To be fair, HIDs first debuted in 1998 and around 1997 is when Lexus started working on the SC430, so it's only practical that they not redesign a whole new headlight for the SCx00. Plus the front bumper shelves too much for HIDs which is why mine have a halo above the cut off line.

Well, you can tell by my last post I'm really new at this.... anyway, yeah I was mostly referring to the lighting design in general and the lack of light output from the stock lights.... seems like a $50K car deserves a little better. Regardless, outstanding job on the HID's.... what parts do I ask for from the BMW dealer... I assume projectors, lamps & ballasts.... anything else?

If you buy from the BMW dealership, you'll be paying around $2400 a pair. Try emailing info@illusion-lighting.com or poboindo@hotmail.com and see what price they'll give you for the E39 projector system. I guarantee you it will be at least 75% off dealership list price.

Default another 93 SC4

Got it this year, on April Fools Day, 83,300mi - now at 96,600 and have done the obligatory ps pump and alt, and a trans service - front brakes, waterpump, cooling system service and timing belt will be done soon, may as well do the waterpump while doing the timing belt I'm told, since the labor to do the belt includes r&r'ing the wpump - I expect the dealer to try to talk me out of it so they can sell me the same labor again later - will do thermostat & rad hoses then too.

TT wheels are next - glad to read here that the Kumhos are quieter than the Toyo Proxes that I have now - god they are howlers!

Oh yeah, I should mention I absolutely LOVE this car - let a friend drive it a couple months ago and he hadda have one, just found a mint '97 SC3 auto with under 40K on the clock -

I'm approaching geezer status (50's) and don't drive my car very hard (except on the North Cascades highway!) - this beautiful machine will probably outlast its driver -

Just bought a 1992 SC400 with 39,017 miles on 8-30-02. I work for Kuni Lexus as a sales consultant, and have seen SC's with 200+ miles in excellent running condition. Will be enjoying my SC for a long time.

Thumbs up 419000 miles

Well both of my SC did not reach 100k yet but last year I drove a 92 SC400 at a salvage car lot. It got like 419000 miles on it. The engine was strong and quite. It got some rust in the windshield areas and couple spot at rear wheel. This car was in Minnesota so rust cannot be prevented. Driver seat worn out but the rest was still looking good. Man I cannot believe that this car can last.

Hey my uncle had a 93 sc400 with 210K on it and it was running perfectly until someone T-boned him. There was only a few things wrong with it; the radiator reservoir was cracked, the driver’s side leather torn, and a few cosmetic flaws, but even after the accident the car was running perfectly. You don’t have to worry about these cars just treat them good and they will do the same for you.

I have 129,800 miles on my SC300 and it looks and runs like a new car!! I bought it last year with 125K from the local Lexus dealer. Everyone I know thinks that it is a brand new car and absolutely cannot believe that it is almost 10 years old!! I hope to go 300K on mine too!! I am easy on my Lexus, I vent all of my aggressive, racing tendencies on my 91 Eclipse GSX turbo with lots of mods!

My 1992 SC300 has about 131K miles on it now. I'm the 3rd owner of the vehicle and I bought it in April, 2002 for $10,300.

It's overdue for a 100K mile service (timing belt, etc.) but I'm waiting on some shocks and springs so I can do all that together.

As far as I know the car was meticulously maintained, serviced as recommended by Lexus. It was originally sold in Massachusetts where it was garaged part of the year to shield it from winter.

It came to Northern California around 1995 (my best guess), and the climate here is very temperate and dry. So the car has never seen road salt or humidity, or been subjected to temperature extremes.

It drives great and looks almost new. Manual transmission, and I have not noticed any problems with it or the clutch.

Standard dings and chips in the paint from age and freeway driving. Interior is original and looks great except for minor wear on the leather in the driver's seat and a cracked vent frame on the center dash.

The weather strip on the top outside edge of the windshield has separated (aged adhesive I guess) and the paint is starting to bubble where it's rusting underneath. That's on my list to fix.

Car has not had any major mechanical issues as far as the previous owner is aware, and all electrics work except for the seat position memory set. Cruise control, sunroof, 8-way seats, seat heaters, all work. The light on the far right edge of the A/C LCD display (that shows the vent position) is burned out.

Stereo is original as far as I know and it sounds good. No distortion or blown speakers that I can hear. I believe the sub is original. CD player occasionally flakes due to the age of the servo motor in the changer.

Car is factory stock and all original to the best of my knowledge. No mods as of yet.

People tell me the car does not look 10 years old. My father, who used to be an auto mechanic, says it's in outstanding shape for its age. Pearl white paint still looks fabulous, although if you look you can tell it's thinning slightly along the lower doors.
