Default Hood release doesn't work

I pulled my hood release today to check the engine and it doesn't work. It is a 1993 SC400 and the wire is attached inside and there is slack in the wire. How do I open the hood from the outside and fix the cable? Thanks, Mike

have you tried to grab the cable from behind the lever on the dash and pull it ?

You already got advice if the break in cable is in the cabin.

If it us on the engine bay, you can try to release it from the grill (then again depending on the model you may not have a grill). The other option will be to remove the plastic splash gaurd and approach it from below. Also look at the option of removing front bumper.

If you can arrange to look at another sc, you may be able to formulate a plan.

Not yet but I'm going over to a friend's house Saturday that has the same model and see if we can get it open. Thanks, Mike

If your efforts fail, it might be worth a trip to those dentless repair shops. I hear they have all sorts of instruments to reach awkward places and still apply leverage.

Good news, I was able to get the hood open Saturday. There was something stuck in it but was able to get it open. Problem seems to be the two cylinders that open the hood and hold it open are shot. Where is the best place to find these? I did use search for the hood not opening and I couldn't find anything. I haven't searched for the cylinders yet but I will unless someone has a quick answer as where to purchase them. Looks like an easy fix. Thanks for your help and interest. Mike

do you mean the hydraulic arms/shocks/struts on the left and right sides, that extend fully when the hood is opened?

If so:
