crazy milage!
Just couldn't help but post. I took a trip to oregon this past weekend and over all I got about 28 miles per gallon! And that included speeding on the trip back. I only used just over half a tank for 300 miles and burnt though about a quarter more before fill up in less than 100 miles. 446 miles on 15.8 or so gallons! I'm thinking that if I took speed limit all the way back and prior to getting stuck behind a four lane freway closure at 1 am in the morning, I was probally averaging 30 or something! Crazy! (and yes I keep close records and fill up all the way before and after calculations, I could graph all the stuffs over the whole time I;ve had it I'm a dork)
Maybe that insane mileage is also due to my obsessive oil changes every 2k miles and a fresh timing belt, plugs, wires, water pump and thermostat. Sure beats my mileage for the first week I had the car (~15 mpg)
hehe

I've only driven for about two years so I've only have had my car for about a year and a half. Just had the major 120 k stuff done last week and so I dont know when it was done last. The engine tag things states the timing belt was changed at 56k though and the wires hadn't been changed untill last week. I change my own oil and give a general insepction every 2k miles. I plan to change the belts and sparkplugs every 60k like the manual says just to be safe.
Hehehehe.....can I get a ride?
On normal day to day driving I only get 21-23 mpg so It's generally average.

Oh, I expect gas prices to skyrocket still. I believe that our supply of gas here lags heind the rest of the country by about a month in a wave like fashion. Our high high I think will hit in a few w eeks.

I'm actually a bit surprised that gas prices here in So Cal have kinda leveled off...the Chevron by my house is still at $3.17 for 91...and the 76 down the street is still $2.99 for 91
That is some awesome gas milage....for all the stuff that u changed, did u just stick with OEM Toyota parts? or did u use aftermarket stuff? iridium plugs? Just curious...I gotta think about doing my major service soon too, and I'd LOVE to get better milage (around 18mpg avg. right now).

Gas stations in my area (St. Louis suburbs) is 2.89 for 91. The high over the past several weeks was $3.39. It seems to have dropped 3-6 cents a day for the past several days. I hope that continues!!
