6 years - a small pictorial
Some of you know me, I haven't posted much in the last couple years but have been on here since it was originally on EZboard. They totalled out my '95 SC400, thought I would post up a little history
Well, first it had those horrible gold mesh wheels. Those were replaced with Altstadt Type IV wheels, a little Apexi N1 exhaust, and some cleared out tails. It was all good
But then there was a little problem with tires... even with 275 in the rear, the car skidded good and even into oncoming traffic on the other side of the median. Luckily no injuries besides the wheels.
Front Altstadt's didn't fare too well (woo, still selling 'em cheap)
So what was next for the 'ol SC? New rims? Nope, JIC kit and eventually IS300 rims with 97+ tails and a little more.
What else could have been in store for the SC? the only things left were suspension, 19s, and SAFC (already had ecu, intake, grounding kit, etc)
heh, well, it was an incredible car. hopefully another SC will pop up soon, we'll see. In the time I had the car, I probably learned nearly everything to learn about it so i'll continue visiting the board. i'll post more pictures later!

good to see OG members post
i'm sure you'll get another, I don't know how many times I thought of getting rid of the old lady, but I can't do it...
Hope to see you around here more often...good luck with the next car...

In addition it crumpled the floor from the trunk to nearly rear passenger, a siderail or frame or something like that needs to be replaced and the trunk basin is slightly skewed... the estimate for repair is ~10k. And that was with only painting the rear of the car and blending in the rest up until the front fenders. I would have to spend my own money to get the entire car painted and at that point, I might as well look for a newer one IMO. I'm sure I can find a cheaper place but I have one those personalities that would be depressed and find every little fault if I would have gotten it repaired from a cheap place (Ugh, this would be the perfect time to throw in a Manaray quote, just seems like it would work now, for OG sake, hehe).
here's a not so good picture that shows a kink in the wheel well, i should have taken one of further up underneath the car.
90redsupra: I'm in the tech center in Denver. We've probably emailed each other before or something, my other SN is sportsc4.

aaah, ok, i understand now.
insurance companies will total out a car if the repair comes out to 70% of the value of the car. The insurance company then buys the car from you according to it's value (they look at NADA or local pricing for similar cars). They'll offer to sell you back the car if you'd like for a cheap price.
so in this case, repair costs crossed over the 70% value of the car.

yeah, it's not u'r fault but the insurance company of the driver who hit you will still follow the same process....if repairs is more expensive than what the car is worth (not counting aftermarket stuff...they won't consider that), then they will offer you what they think is a 'fair' price. This just happened to one of my friend and his 240...someone rear ended him, and the insurance only offered to pay him $1400....which is a total joke. But atleast they offered to sell it back to him for $250, so this way, he could part it out / sell it as is for probably another $1K.....
hellasboy - sorry to hear about u'r SC...hopefully u find another one soon!

Hey Jon, long time, how are things going? I'd like to get a '00 or '99 SC400 but haven't had much luck in finding one yet. I received some word on an '02 CLK430. the price on that one is almost too nice to pass up but I still don't think it looks as nice as the SC, interior and exterior wise and it has the MB reputation ... but it has shorter overhangs.
Then there is the SC430 and XKR and those are a *little* outta my price range at the moment , so if i do pick up another car for now, I might just sell it later for one of those. All in all, I still have no kcufing clue
