Wow, this thread is old. You can buy anything as long as the terms are good.

Until my garage caved in from a tornado, I could.

Still can, but I'm working on the garage by myself and building a pole barn at the same time which will be heated and air conditioned.

Plus I just bought a Pacifica, and actually like it. Its an 08 with 12k miles (8k when I bought it) and I only paid $12,000 because I purchased from the company who had it as a fleet vehicle. Its mint and looks nice. I was heavily considering an IS-F or an SC430

Financing a new car is one of the WORST financial moves you can make.

Unless you buy it outright cash...you will get screwed. Then again you will still get screwed probably.

on buying a 50k car

Currently have a mortgage, 2 car payments + the SC, 2 bikes, and a slew of other toys and hobbies. Not only do I not NEED another car (especially for $50K), but I couldn't afford one if I wanted to. My wife and I are having a boy, hopefully today - and he's our first child. Most of my toys are getting sold anyway. Time to get down to just the Aveo, the SC, and get rid of my 07 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 for a Jeep Compass for the wifey. Hooray for gas mileage and practicality!!!

Congrats,

You might as well buy her the minivan now, because you will be trading that Compass in next year..when it becomes 'too small'

Just trying to save you some frustration man(money)..that's all

That is not 100% true... if your financed interest rate is lower than what you're earning outside of the loan, it makes sense to finance. If you pay in cash, great, but if you can get the financing low, you can earn more interest with that money in a market outside of the loan.

I'd rather keep that money for my retirement plan.
I can afford it, but not worth it (I don't mean to sound like I have money).
I will continue to build my sc3, it has all the amenities that I need for a luxury sport coupe.
