How many SC300/400 owners can buy a $50,000.00 car?
#106
You'll have to hear from the OP IronCobra for his reason but I have my own. A lot of folks think SC owners buy it because they can't afford another Lexus. They refuse to believe we love the car because it is the best Lexus ever made. Some can't but some can. It doesn't really matter but it is an interesting thread topic.

well im a 17 year old with no job until the summer and i just dumped my last bit of money (8k) into buying my sc. im so unbelievably happy with it though, i waited for like six months to find a 5 spd but it finally paid off and it helps me ignore the other little problems. i will probably never sell this car because by the time i'll have enough money to buy a new car thats better than the sc, sellin the sc wont give me enought cash to make a difference in buying a new car

i could but wont, just the fact that id rather save my money so i can get another house, plus, IMO the older cars are built so much stronger, body and engine wise. i already have a 93 and 98 accord, im pretty much happy.

I will never buy a new car and furthermore finance. The only car close to being a replacemet to my SC, with same styling que's in my point of view is a Porsche 911 and I have been considering it. But if I had extra money lying around I doubt I would ever sell my first real car which was the SC, i would rather give it to my brother, just to have it stay in the familly.
Buy a salvaged one for like 15-20k and then fix it up and drive around a 50k-60k car without spending 50-60k

The SC is such a classic, a trendsetter. Reliable to boot. Condition is more important than mileage, but high milers can be bought cheap, cheap enough to pay cash, which is the only way to buy a car.

I've become a real believer in the SC design. It could become another XKE. They used to be cheap, too
I get a lot of pleasure driving a car I paid less than $20K for, when I think about the guy who bought it new for $60K just a few years ago. Let those who don't know better absorb all that depreciation, then we bargain hunters will take over
