Just got a 1997 Lexus SC300 recently, but noticed a couple of things about it.

When driving on uneven pavement, the car will wander. When the driving over sudden bumps, the rear-end will sway and CD stacker will skip. Also, I get this loud clunk on from the rear. I don't know why, but the car has 225/50R16 Dunlops on the front and 225.55R16 Pirelli P4000s on the rear. I was told by the dealer that this vehicle was lowered -- don't have any details, but it looks like it may be a 1-inch drop.

Anyway, are any of these "symptoms" normal? I have a warranty that's overdue pretty soon, and want to take advantage of it.

One more question: how do I get to the 10" sub and amp?

1st Question: Why does it have two different types of tires? That doesn't make any sense.
One reason it may wander, is b/c of the tires it has. When i got some new Pirelli high preformance tires, the ride was a lil harsher and it felt like it wandered a lil when i hit a bump.
As for the CD changer skipping, look in th etrunk, pull back the paneling around the Cd changer, and check to see that every nut, etc. is tight. Not sure about the rear end swaying and the clunking. Nothing u stated sounds very normal. I would have somone qualified take a look.
To get at the sub, remove the back paneling from the trunk by pulling the top of it towards u. U will have toput some force into it though. Then remove the speaker cover covering the sub ion the inside of the car. To do this, pull it towards u (away from the window) and pull it up at the same time. U might also want to try to get something under it to help pry it off (thats what i did but be careful). the only ampo that i can find is under the CD Changer, but i think there r two and im not sure if that amp is the right one.

The dealer may have bought new tires for the car prior to the sale, and just went with whatever the shop had. The tires look pretty new.

One more thing ... if I were to try and make all four tires the same type, would it be better to keep and match the Pirelli P4000s or the Dunlop SP8000s? Any comments?
