I just voted. I'd rather have the '06 SC400. I've always liked the previous SC bodystyle and always have admired those that modify their SC's in a very agressive and clean profile.

I didn't get into sports cars or modding at the time of the SC3/4 era, cause I was still nobody.

Then, the SC430 came out and I didn't really like the bulky back of it but didn't have a choice cause it was the top of the line for Lexus sport coupe/drop top hard-top. So I bought it.

If only lexus kept their SC3/4 bodystyle and offered it up to today, a drop top hard top. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Anyway, here's a pic of my WALD SC430 today. I kinda feel like somebody now, cause I belong to a unique group of people here on CL. Other than that, I'm still nobody outside of CL, in public and at home. hehehe.....

Hey Tee, you can always pick up an older one and mod it. I have been thinking of buying another SC400 as my daily beater and dump the Fusion. Autotrader list 42 under 5k. Some decent ,some need work. I would prefer the 98+ models with the real V8. Some listed for under 10k for those.

Cool die hard fan of sc400

I love the sc400 more than the sc430, some suggestion for a sc400 2006;
1. same console with nicer shift **** and no zig zag shift console
2. low profile 19" tires
3. nav
4. racing seats
5. adjustable lowering spring
6. carbon fiber hood
7. wide body option
8. keep door still heavy cos they lifesavers if hit from sides
and i could go on and on but finally i wish i could make mine sc400 but so far i did this small mods below

1995 sc400

anyone with a good idea of a good exhaust tips or muffler system with nice smooth sound, not some civic sound or cavalier etc, and leather racing seats, any suggestion people

I really like the first gen SC its a good looking car but if Lexus continued to build it it would look and feel outdated the new SC430 is a drop dead gorgeous car and you have aot of interior color combinations to choose from so Lexus should contnue to build this car. The 1SC and 2SC are to completely different cars much like the 1IS and the 2IS.

my 2 cents..
1. i don't like the 430 at all
2.if i had 60k to put into my car(sc300)...hmmm new bushings all around, tein coil overs,19 inch volks, eclipse double din touch screen w/navi, paited quicksilver and interior redone black leather, 2jz-gte w 6 speed and lsd rear, turbo back exhaust, aem engine management, and a single turbo upgrade to put me at 500whp and i would do the work my self and have enough cash to save for a deposit on a condo

little far fetched dont ya think? Lexus would make it big and heavy, no CF. Would be cool to have Lex bust out with something that dominated the sport world though something new that is

Personally i think the best part about owning a sc400/300 is the fact that they arent sold anymore, and if they did have a 2006 sc400, it wouldnt be right driven a car that i bought for 60k+, when someone else spent 2-5 k for a car that almost looks the same... but again thats just me

..... excellent thread topic!

Personally, if I really wanted to, I could finance a new SC430. However, it's about one of the last cars I'd ever want to own. Looks like a fat low flying cloud, IMO, and doesn't offer anything I look for in a car. I'd take a Caddy XLR, Benz SL500, or BMW 6-series over the SC430 anyday.

It also incomparable to an SC400....the SC430 wasn't an evolutionary car, it was a revolutionary car, made for an entirely different purpose with an entirely different market in mind.

Personally, I bought my SC300 not becuase I wanted a top-of-the-line two-door Lexus coupe, but because I wanted a Supra with a nicer interior. I don't think anything can compare to 2JZ potential in a Lexus wrapper.

2JZ FTW.

You know, I can respect your opinion...But, I beg to differ...the SC400/SC300, in my opinion, is absolutely NOT outdated or even dated in it's appearance...I remember driving up to a customer parking lot, and this CEO, who happened to drive a SC430 black coupe...stated when she saw mine that it was one of the nicest looking cars she had seen on the street, and she inquitred as to what car it was...was it a new Jag? I explained it was the predesscor to her car...This CEO said she liked it better than her SC430, thought it had much better lines than hers...

If Lexus made it a little wider, a little shorter, and put in the SC430 interior...That would be a very hot car...

I actually plan on getting another SC400 shortly-again. Not to really mod but for my daily beater as the 2006 Fusion is just plain problematic and must go away and SC400's are a dime these days. This will certainly not replace the SC430 as both cars are worlds apart and even if the Lexus continued the make the SC400 today, both cars would still be marketed to two different market segments. The SC430 is more of a specialty car-the SC400 is more of a daily driver. Both great cars but completely different cars and the feeling in both is just as different.
