Yeah, as you can geuss by the subject, i was arrested for speeding last night at 12:30 am. but thats not even the bad part. i received 2 tickets from 2 different cops, both for speeding.... man im in some deep sht.

so heres my story... its 11:30 and i got bored, so i go for a drive. i was going to go up by my old work and see what was going on there, so i get pulled over for ticket number 1 there. 65 in a 45.... 20 over, by county too. so i take off and get to my old job, look my ticket over then decide to go home.

ticket number 2 is a different story. not more than 25 minutes later i was going on to the express lanes for some faster driving, cause i thought, "oh i got one, i cant get another....????" WTF was i thinking... so i hit this light and take off, i get going to about 110 in a 45.... lucky for me this cop caught me when i was slowing down... he clocked me going 94 in the 45... 49 over... man, not more than 1 minute after i got pulled over i was sitting in the back of the squad car. (PS. i turned 17 in april)

So here i am sitting in the back of this cop car, while they search my car. next i know im going back to the station for my mugs shots and fingerprints... but you guys could care less about that, and me too. MY CAR!!!! my car get towed to this place like 3 minutes away... I go to look to see if my car is there, cause its been like 2 hours since i was sitting in jail. MY CAR IS GONE!!!!! SOME GREASE MONKEY TOOK MY BABY FOR A JOY RIDE!!! AHHH!!!!!

well tell me if you have any sympathy or thoughts if i can get out of at least the first one, cause i cant afford to have my liscense jacked for a year....

sorry for such the long post, but i had to tell someone, cause its still only 4 hours since i have been out of jail.... thanks for listening

Default so where was your car?

Check the tickets for clauses or missing feilds. And where did your car go? could you get a clause that they didnt properly impound your car and somebody decided to hoon in it? I dunno... I'm grabbing on straws here. I know I couldnt survive without liscence for more than a week.... : (

hope it all gets better for you.

Toan.

Bummer. I have two words for you: Valentine One

The Valentine One is the best radar detector money can buy. It wil tell you when you get within a half a mile of law enforcement using laser or radar.

Two other words are: Slow down. 100+ in a 45MPH? We all like to cruise and sometimes go over the edge, but can't you find a place out in the country?

With two tickets the same day, a judge isn't going to be very understanding. As much as I avoid lawyers, it would be a good idea to spend a few bucks for a consultation. Maybe a plea bargain for both tickets might allow you to keep your license and go to a drivers' school or something. Good luck.

Default You are completely screwed...

Perhaps nobody else will be honest... you are completely $ucked.

Are the tickets in the same jurisdiction? Same court? Same police department? If not, you may have some hope of getting court dates within a day or two of each other, and hope one does not find out about the other. If a judgement is entered, it will not hit your record for a couple of days. You need to make certain you get a different judge and make sure the first doesn't hit your record before you go to court on the second.

Whatever you do, do not attempt to plea to waive the first ticket on grounds that you will never do it again. My brother got a deal like that from the prosecutor, they told him if he didn't get another one for 6 months they would drop the first. That would obviously screw you.

You do need an attorney. One that specializes in this ****. If you get one that doesn't, they will plead some bull**** for you and you will get community service and a license restriction to and from work, at the very least.

Your insurance carrier is not to raise your rate they are going to drop you. The worst part about it, is you are probably on your parents policy, so they are going to drop them too. That is going to **** off the P's. No doubt about it, so you had better switch carriers the day before your judgement is handed down. That way when the new company runs your record, they will not see either of the tickets on your driving record.

My guess is your insurance will be no less than $2500 a year, PLPD. for doing double the speed limit.

Man, I feel for you. I have been there. Did you just a ticket or a misdemeanor count like reckless endangerment?

dued man...i almost knwo what u mean. I turned 16 just befor emy jr. yr in highschool and got my license then. 1 hr. after my final exam (1 hr. into my 1st full summa w/ a license) i got pulled over for goin 15 over. I pushed the court date back twice and the cop didnt show up so i just got 4 hr. drivin school and a warning. Well, on the same day i got outta court for my 1st ticket, i get another *ucking ticket. ( i posted this a few weeks ago). I was pulled over doin 75 in a 40. The road i was on i travel at least twice a day and is very lonely (not much traffic). I was driving along (im usually going faster) and then all the sudden my Passport 8500 goes BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. I was kinda shocked for a sec. b/c i have been using that road to go to school and friends houses for 3 yrs. and there has never been a cop on it. I look (i had been turning up the fan) and i see this white car coming around the turn. All the sudden i see his *ucking high beams start flashing and then blue lights in his windshield. My detector went off when he turned on his radar gun. I guess he could tell i was goin a lil fast in the 40 zone. When he pulled me over, he told me how to try to get out of haing it going on insurance by rescheduling my 4 hr. class (which i hadn't gone to yet) and making it an 8 hr. class (which i have to go to on Sat.). I have a feeling that im not going to get outta the 35 over b/c that is borderline reckless. If i had gotten caught by a Metro Nashville cop, i would've been in ur situation. I think that in my case, im just gonna take the charges like a man and deal w/ it. My parents have taken my license away and when i get it back, they r going to give me my moms 97 4Runner and my mom is going to get the SC unless i can prove to them (w/ grades they say) that they should give it back to me. Oh well. Ill let u know how my sit. turns out. Oh yeah, by the way i turn 17 in 1 day.
P.S. Usually everyone hates goin back to school but this yr. its really goin to suck for me. If the court takes my license away (it would only be for 30 days) then im gonna be a senior in highschool having his parents take him to school.

Default heh

been there, done that, got the t-shirt....

I was crusing from Atlanta, GA to Richmond, VA (8hr drive) for the SECOND time in 4 days.....so I wanted nothing more than to get home to Richmond. It was 2:30am when I came thru Charlotte, NC. ^ lane highway on my side, NO traffic, streetlights everywhere so I could see there was nothing....

Well I'm cruising about 125ish (had a 1995 240sx then....wouldn't go faster...lol) and I get to a point where the streetlights go away. Well I was slowing down since i couldn't see that far ahead anymore. ALL the sudden, right before the streetlights ended.....friggin headlights come on a ways behind me and blue lights are a'flashin. Damn.

So much for my Valentine One then!! She was luckily using VasCar because it gives average speed...instead of top speed. 117 in a 55. She had been driving behind me with her headlights off....NO FAIR! Well of course I got a free stay in Charlotte that night, care of the state police. She said they would have her *** if she let me go with just a ticket, because wreckless is only 10 over.....and I was doing 62 over. Yucky. Off to the slammer, I saw the magistrate in the morning, posted bail, got my car outta impound, and paid the fine when it came to it.

THREE years later, Virginia DMV finally got the ticket on their record, and suspended my license. THREE FRIGGIN years later!! What a joke that was. Now I'm IN north carolina, so it down't matter anymore.

In your case, I would also agree that you are ******ed.

I got two tickets in one day back in 98. One was 6 over, the other 20 over. Same county and court AND judge. And he had to make fun of me....when he tried me for the 6 over one (came up first) he found me guilty and told me to exit to the left. I went and sat back down, and he had the bailiff come tell me that I could now leave. Well after I tell him I'm waiting on another one, he tells the judge. The judge VERY loudly said "Well Mr. Reed, why don't we go ahead and try you for the next ticket, while the first is still fresh in my mind." So of course I go up there, and when he looked it over, had to say "Both in the same day...looks like you don't learn the easy way, so I'll have to show you the hard way. Well since 20 over was wreckless...a misdemeanor....

10hrs of community service and $500 fine later....

My insurance got cancelled. That totaled 6 tickets on my record in a two year period.....and my new insurance was $4800 a year. I got rid of that two door rice rocket REAL fast and got a nice 4-door for a short while.

Geez this turned out to be a long post....glad I'm on my lunch hour.

Question

CmputerWiz

You say so much for your Valentine One then. I'm not sure, didn't it work or did she turn on the radar faster than you could slow. The detector works greaat but usually to tell you law enforcement is int he area with radar on. Just asking as mine has kept me out of a lot of trouble.

Well, I got clocked going 80 mph in 65 mph zone, but the cop didn't pull me over. He was just standing there. I was pretty much the only one on the highway with exception of the trucks. I think decent cops who know how to do their job right will pull over someone who is out control and indangering others.

My Valentine One works great; however nothing will help you if it's a smart cop. Here is some tips for night driving. Don't leave your fog lamps on (don't need them anyways). Go at steady speeds and pay attention to the front and back of your vechicle (he can't clock you from a side).

Today I was just at the court taking care of my 2nd ticket. First one was a speeding ticket, I didn't pay attention while driving, cop was laughting his *** off. He's like, "You go a radar detector and you still got cought?" So, I'm like "No officer, you're just a great policeman." He was still laughting, as was I. Second ticket was passing on the median. Cop was an *******, infact he said "Normally we give out warnings for this, but since too many people are doing this, we're giving out tickets." I wish I could sue the hell out of that Police district. That's not a good reason to give out tickets. I honestly don't see how this would make people stop driving on the median in order to go to the turning lane (that's what I did). Third was for speeding again. Cops was cool and infact was laughting at me when I was "But officer, I was going with the traffic." He replyed, "No, you were passing the traffic like there is no tomorow." Lovely. All of those times were when I was driving my father's Maxima. Never getting a Maxima!!!

I don't hold a grudge against police, just some officers. I'm not going to pass judgment on you, but speeding is dumb you know, no matter what you do. It's also pointless unless you're in a hurry to get somewhere or racing someone. I don't know.

motorcycle cops are the worst.. he never let you go.. i think it because they don't have a/c on hot days, and heaters on cold ones. there are the worst in my expericence.

No! The Valentine One is AWESOME....... If you read the post again.....the cop was using VasCar. They don't have that in every state, so you may not know what it is! It's this cool little pace machine. They click a little switch on the VasCar when you go by a bridge or sign or something, and when they go by that same marker, they click another switch. Then 1/4mi. or more down the road they find another marker, and do the same thing, but turning them off.

This gives them the distance travelled, time it took, and average speed. There are no radars or anything involved, it's all just a way to pace you that's MUCH more calibrated than their speedometer is, AND you get the benefit of the speed being your average speed....not the highest.

Yes my Val One has kept me out of TONS of trouble, thank god for it!!

Valentine 1 definitely isn't the best radar detector money can buy. It may have been 4 or 5 years ago but not now. They have been multiple comparison tests between the valentine 1 and passport 8500 and passport wins no contest. I personally have owned both of these radar detectors and I can tell you passport kicks valentine butt.

Well,

Depending on the jurisidiction that you received your tickets in, a good attorney may be able to get your tickets reduced. However, the second ticket is unlikely to be reduced to a non-moving violation or lesser offense, because you more than doubled the limit. You already know that driving that fast in a 45 mph zone is irresponsible and certainly inadvisable. I realize that it happens, but you should understand that regardless of the jurisdiction, it is highly unlikely that a judge or prosecutor is going to let this one go. If you have a clean driving record prior to these two tickets, you may have a decent chance of getting the tickets reduced. If you already have points on your license, it is going to be rather difficult to convince a prosecutor that your vilations shoudl be reduced.

Go retain an attorney, preferably a traffic violation specialist. Be prepared to take a defensive driving course, and pay exorbitant fines.

Ummm, nope. Stop reading the dumb tests made by Anti-Valentine people. My friend has one and he keeps on wishing for Valentine. I wonder why.

Default hehe.. talk about bad cops...

I think the worst experience I have personally witnessed with cops is when travelling back from mountains at about 2am. Stopped for a tea break at a refuge (driving while tired is worse than driving while drunk), cop comes along and sees all these young people in turbo cars. Walks up gives my friend a canary (Unroadworthy certificate) because his suspension was too soft ??? He has Koni race setup suspension, not that soft (It is a sunday track car) !!!?? and his handbrake makes more than 6 clicks when you pull it up. We were like... WTF?? now that's a cop with more than a watermelon up his ***... anyways... had to waste a day to get the car roadworthy (without changing anything). Trippy.

Also dont you think the radar detectors give too many false signals? My friend has a Valentine and he probably causes more accidents by slowing down than avoiding cops.
