Default Baby seat in an SC

Hey - I know we've got some random ages on this forum so I thought I would throw this out there to any who have used a rear-facing babyseat in an SC. I have a 5 week old little girl and I currently don't have a "practical" car in my stable to put a baby seat in. The wife has a new accord that we currently use as the transporter of my little princess - and when I absolutely need to take her anywhere I use my big ole rock crawler Jeep (she won't of course fit in the two seater Z convertible). The wife is pretty adament about me not getting rid of the Z - she likes the vert as much as I do and I'll not be getting rid of the jeep either. I've decided on the SC as the practical car but wanted to poll those who have actually had to in/out a carseat or the munckin in/out. How much of a PIA is this with an SC?

Any insight is GREATLY appreciated.

Matt

I have a 4 week old who rides around in a rear facing baby seat behind the passanger seat. The passanger seat has to moved up quite a bit but my 6'3" 280 self can still sit in front of her.

I was able to cram a baby seat back there. Kinda hard getting in and out but it does fit. Good luck.

My son is now a little over 2 years old so I now use a baby Reccaro booster type seat for him which makes it much easier, but still a little cramped to get him in and out. When we had the rear facing baby seat the passanger seat must be moved a good amount foward and it was more of a pain to get him in and out. It is not impossible, but you do have to squeeze in and strap him in. Forget about putting a rear facing baby seat behind the drivers seat though. There is just not enough room. I'm only 5'4" so its not like I have my seat all the way back, but even with my driving position the baby seat we had would not fit. Maybe yours might though since not all baby seats are created equal.

Thanks for all the replies. It's not hard for me to justify to myself that my dd and "practical car" should be a 5sp SC 400 (or 300 depending on what I can find) and it's even easier now that I've heard your feedback. I'm about 5'8" on my tip toes and my wife is only slightly taller (I married WAY out of my leauge ) so I'm thinking I'll be in the market in the immediate future!

Thanks and I'll keep you all posted as to what I find! I'm looking forward to the search!

I've got a 7 yeadr old and a 4 year old and I still use a car seat for my daughter and a booster seat for my son. Don't worry. The baby seat will fit fine behind the passenger seat.

I was able to use rear facing infant seats but I found it impossible to use infant seats with a base. Ie the ones where you can easily latch the baby in and out and use the car seat to carry the baby around with.

Since we have 3 other cars, I will wait until my second Son is forward facing. I'm sure things will be fine after that.

I went through this three years ago; I measured all of the seats at Babies r us, and they were all very close to each other in nearly every dimension.
Things do improve greatly once the seat can be turned around.
Oh, congradulations on the arrival of your daughter!

5 9 HERE..hahaha...no but seriously its not that hard to have a baby seat behind the passenger seat. I have a 10 month old lil girl and she actually likes it more in my car (wife has a 98 accord) because she can see me while im driving because of the position shes in..I have taken her on a couple of 2-4 hour trips and no problems at all. At first its kinda difficult to get in and out but then it becomes normal and you know exactly where the seat must go for you get back there and what not..good luck..

That is pretty funny - from baby seats to height! My wife is not only taller than I am - but her legs are so damn long her hips are around mid stomach on me! I have big ole strong calves for sure from always being on my tip toes
