Thanks for the link, Ikon – I had not seen the ES pictures when I visited the ES thread so I had no opinion on the car – my previous post addressed the lively debate that left a couple of IQ-challenged ES patriots without any intelligent response, except to call “Mommy” and “Daddy” moderators for help.

Now, after seeing the car, I’m totally under-whelmed. It’s a damn shame. I’ve always thought the ES3 was nice looking – not exactly head turning – not beautiful, but a nice looking car. The new car from wheel-to-wheel looks a lot like the GS. That’s ok. The rear view is also ok, except the rear light wrapping around too much I could do without. The front lights are downright ugly. All-in-all, I’d rate it a 5 or 6 (10 scale). The interior almost duplicates my antique SC4 – do like the steering wheel, tho. Also don’t like the wheels – didn’t like them on the SC either.

Might as well give my .05 worth (think inflation) on the rest of the line:

SC300/400 – Still one of the most beautiful designs ever developed – for any car
SC430 - Fine front end, interior, top, engine, ugly rear
GS430 - Like the car except the rear (would consider buying one – just for the engine, I could always duct-tape the excessive trunk lighting)
LS430 - Looks good, but a little too much Mercedes influence
IS – Quirky, but nice, appealing to a younger market – again, don’t like the rear
RX3 – For a small suv, I like it
RX4 – With apologies to Francis K, no BIG suv’s register on my chart at all

Whatever happened to the Calty Design group (responsible for the SC design)????

Personally, I really dig the CLK and to a lesser degree, the 330i coupe too. If they were only Lexus-made.
