When I had civic, I had Chilton's Repair Manual and I helped me alot.
Now I have lexus, and I've been looking for Chilton's or Haynes repair manual but can't find them.
Do you guys have similar type of repair manual for your car? or you cant just get it anywhere, period.?
I would like to know any info.

Don't waste your time. Go to your dealer for the two volume set. Mine was only 150 and got it in a few days.

150 for a manual? hmm seems a little steep.. oyh ya .. forgot anything with the lexus name is made with gold and diomonds.

Justice.....$150 does sound like alot for manuals. But its nothing compared to what you will save by using it for your own repairs. They are well worth the price.

Are the manuals somewhat idiot proof? I am very mechanically inclined and hold an Engineering degree, as well as MCSE, CCNA, and CCSE certs... still the garage manuals scare me to death!! Are there lots of pretty pictures??

I did do my rotors and starter on my Oldsmobuick. Think these manuals would be a cut above Haynes??

When it comes down to it a Lex is still a toyota. i can work on toyotas so i guess i can work on LExus's hehe except gotta becareful not to scratch the gold and diomonds under the hood.

Well buddy, they are detailed, but like working a troublesome network problem or a windows 2K conflict, it's not all detailed. The manuals are a great investment regardless. If you can build a pc or install a car stereo, most of this stuff is easy.,

$150 for a Lexus is not that bad compare to $100 for Honda, Toyota, and American cars shop manual.

For any car, without a shop manual I'll be lost. The manual at Pepboys is a complement to the factory manual. Too bad, they don't have after market manual for Lexus yet.

At any rate, you need a factory manual to do any work on your car. How much do you pay for labor to change your spark plugs? with the manual and your sweat you can change the spark plugs your self

If you know any mechanic, he can order the manual for you; cost me less than $100 for mine. The guy who order it for me work at a Honda Dealer Ship.
