I went to the local muffler shop today and removed all the cats and replaced it 2 1/2 pipe inplace of the front cats down to 2 1/4 with an x pipe in the middle then 2 1/4 back to the resonator. At idle not noticible, light throttle it,s noticible under load it's loud, real loud, to loud and it sounds kinda high pitched and raspy (read ) NOT a good thing. Ok I need advice here should I change the stock mufflers with ? super turbos are supposed to be pretty quiet definetly have a better tone than stocks ? add a presilencer in addition to or replace the factory ones with better ones or just put the primary cats back on.

You should have read the "Exhaust horsepower sound gains" thread in the "engine and transmission" section. It would have saved you some $$$ that you are going to spend now.

After reading and getting info from the members at CL I would not remove the cats and add a free flow muffler for a better sounding car. Mindflux removed his cats; but he keep his stock mufflers to control the sound and back pressure needed for a normally aspirated car.

I would put the cats back on and then add some free flow muffs(dyno max ultra flows or flow master). All types were discussed in the thread..

Plus it depends on the type of car you have... 300 or 400 SC? I'm assuming 400 by your title XX400.

You could always weld on a gigantic pair of tips and drive around on cut springs and a 1 foot high combat spoiler. Of course, you'd probably get beaten severely for doing that.

I read all the threads on exhaust which is why I kept the stock mufflers and resonators I just didn't think it would be that loud. It has a bad resonance at about 2000 - 2500 rpm. On a positive note all the crackling and ticking that you normally here when you turn off the car is gone.
