The car has been down since january, but not because of this part, but because of putting in the 1jzgte in, waiting for the stuff to come from GB and doing a lot of custom work on the body and interior, I started this project pulling up the interior and rewiring less than a month ago working only on weekends as i work monday to friday till 7pm so no time to work in the week, like i said it's very time consuming but not difficult. I do understand it's not for everyone either, i just wanted to show people it can be done and it's not impossible or out of reach. And also in regards to the RHD conversion I could have gone that route, but I intentionally kept the car left hand drive, the rhd conversion would also require more parts, you would need ofcourse the dashboard, all those boxes underneath the dash controling the ac, the rack and pinion, a bunch of other stuff which would work out a lot more than just $600.00 shipped to my doorstep, and if you go that route, you are better off just buying a front clip. That route also includes a lot of mechanical work, this route is basic, with the majority of it consisting of the extending of wires.

That's sick though, I've done this to another car, but the end result from this project is going to be so much nicer. I'd love to tear into my SC4 and swap it all out out for the 1J. Can't wait to see it all finished. How much $ are you into the project so far?

what I'm saying is the $600 is not just for the cluster, it came with all the wiring for the car including an engine harness because the one I had was incorrect (i sold it and made back the money anyway), also the ignitor which the 1jz swap i had did not come with, and an ecu (since the supra ecu would not work), plus doing it this way i got away from having to pay an electrician the $600 he wanted to charge to wire the car for me, so the only real disadvantage is that I had to do all the work myself, so for the price of paying for labor to wire only the 1jzgte into the sc400 body, i got the cluster as well. Think about it, the average 1jz ecu is $200 + another $200 for engine harness, $100 for ignitor that's $500 right there already, so it's really not just a cluster for $600, but I understand your concern about it not being cheap.
I'm really only $2600 into the swap which includes the 1jz motor, transmission plus everything to make the cluster work (all wiring) and the labor that I paid to drop the sc400 motor out and the 1jz motor in (the only thing i paid someone to do)

im so glad i came across this thread, i LITERALLY was about to buy a soarer cluster for $150 thinking i'd only need a jdm dash wire harness for it. SAVED! looks like i might resort to buying a gps for 50 just to see my MPH lol. btw anyone know of any standalone speedometers?

So I have a similar issue. 92 sc4 2jzgte vvti (canadian) with a soarer dash. Speed and fuel works but I can't seem to get the rpm to work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
