Pictures of the fire damage to my car...
Well here are the gruesome pictures as promised... The car has been stripped of all the parts that I wanted removed (apart from the wheels) but this will give you an idea of the damage that the fire caused.
Not a pretty sight and it pains me to look at it.

I had just had my HKS Fcon S upgraded to the Fcon V Pro unit and the engine had been previously using oil so it was clear that it had seen better days, and uprated engine internals were on my "to do" list.
The mapping procedures had been done and it was performing really well. As far as we were concerned the job was finished.
I went out in the car for a road test, at least one piston failed which provided sufficient crankcase pressure to overcome the breather system, which in turn sprayed oil over a glowing hot turbo and manifold with catastrophic consequences.
That is one of the dangers of making the effort to remain at the forefront of modding and tuning and I was fully aware of the risks involved. I would have had no problem with replacing the engine/internals. If I would have had a fire extinguisher or an engine bay fire kit then I could have limited the damage but alas I did not.
I can assure you that I will be having one installed in my new car.
