LOL small turbo... I cant wait to see the comments on this forum about that.
I completely agree with ya, for the power it is small. I have a T88h with 1000cc's sitting on the shelf waiting....
I wanted to see the full power band is why I started thge revs as low as possible to a safe high level. I should be able to rev 9k safely with my build. The T88h, up high, will really shine with some high octane gogo juice in it. I'm guessing 880+whp @ 32psi.... This is just a guess. My build is very similar to Gary White's street supra. He made 970whp at TiTan last time I was there.

I consider the t78 to be very streetable, others will disagree. I have been very pleased with the t78, very little lag considering the power on pump gas. It really depends on how you drive. The t78 opperates in the exact rpms for my driving. The t88h will be just for Dyno #'s and maybe a pass or 5 thru the quarter.

Also my gas mileage is 18.15mpg. I still need to pull some fuel out of the idle and low load/cruise part of the map. I should be able to get about 23-24mpg on the highway.

Small turbo! A T78 is a huge snail myfriend. Capable of pushing over 700hp. With that race head and built block with internals you can rev it up until the needle goes around in circles!

doesnt greddy have a weird way of measuring their turbos? Isnt a Greddy T76 actually a 67mm turbo and not a 76mm?

basically what mm is a T78 or is it actually a 78mm turbo? If its really a 78mm, then thats a big ****, but looking at the spool characteristics, it looks like a 67mm turbo graph...

I think the 67-74 is the best street turbo. I have an auto sc300 and plan on going with a 67, if my car was a 6 speed car, Id have a 74.

Thats quite a setup you have there. Very nice. I too think that the T78 is streetable. A friend of mine use to run a turbo that size and still used the car as a daily driver. As far as gas mileage goes, you are getting better mileage than me. Well, goodluck on your project. Your T88 should put you over top and hopefully running some 9s

Not 100% sure if these specs are accurate since greddy doesnt release that information but I found this:
T78 (GReddy) = 67mm compressor wheel.
T88 33D (GReddy) = 66mm compressor wheel.
T88 34D (GReddy) = 70mm compressor wheel.
T88 (Turbonetics) = 88mm compressor wheel.

Here is where I found it
thread on turbo sizes

yeah, so it is small then, 67mm is small in the turbo world! hehe

It is a great choice though, in my opinion.

is that a .68 or .81 a/r? It looks like a .68 maybe?

Actually I believe it is a .81 but, I'm not 100% sure. It gets very hard to recall the specifics with this much time and parts involved in the build.

i think he meant what a/r, just like I asked so you answered it!

good numbers for sure! Id enjoy the car for a while then upgrade. Thats the problem with modding cars, i know with my turbo mustang, i never enjoy the car cuz im always changing something... leave it alone for a while, enjoy it, then upgrade in the winter months! Go with a 74mm turbo if you upgrade, SP74ho! badass turbo!

Nice setup. The last time I dynoed I made 568 on 14.7 psi on pump, but since I was having boost controller issues, we stopped at that. If my driveshaft finally comes in, I'm hoping to hit low to mid 800s at the wheels.

Here's my basic setup:

SP74HO
272s
built head
brand new shortblock
AEM
DLI
830cc injectors
4 row etc etc.

Can't wait to see your high boost numbers.
