Subs?
#1
I dont have to much money right now but i want more bass in my SC. At Crutchfield.com they r running a special for 2 JBL 10" subs for $89.00. I'm assuming that they must not be great but since i dont have too much money they might have to do. My question is, do u guys think i should get them, and if so, how do i go about installing them, etc. or do u guys just suggest sticking w/ the stock 10" that i have right now?

Well, if you are really strapped for cash, you would need to use the factories sub amp.
1. Take out the factory sub.
2. Measure its impedance with an ohm meter.
3. Buy 1 JL-audio 12W0 with the closest impedance.
4. Build or buy an air tight sturdy 3/4" plywood or MDF enclosure that is the appropriate size.
You are all set.
The JBL's won't sound bad but they will give too much midbass and not enough low bass extension.
If you want to get crazy loud, you are on your own. If you want to have a nice well rounded system with tighter, deeper and somewhat louder bass than the stock sub go with the JL approach. It will set you back without box about $125. You can then later on buy a 200 watt amp if you want to get louder in the future; but at that point, your probably going to need to replace a lot of the system to keep your mid range, highs and bass all level together.
My suggestions,

leave it alone
Until you can do a nice upgrade, dont screw with it. First of all the 280 W pioneer system amp uses a half ohm impedence. Yes that is correct. Good luck finding the correct sub to run with that. In my 400 I installed a 10" Kicker running off an Xtant 300W amp at 4Ohms. It was a decent kick. In my 300 I have a JL 500W amp running a solobaric 4ohm L10, much better.
You need some power to get through the lame trunk.
