I don't know how did you manage to open those 97 lights intact.
I personally wouldn't recommend disassembling them to anyone...
I got mine open but while trying to get the reflectors off the lens it totally busted!
I don't know how it should open, because I was very carefull.
Now have to get a new one somewhere =(
Any tips where I could find a used one in goog condition or a new one ? Passenger RH side that is...

Post Tails

Im currently in the middle of taking my 99 tails apart and the driverside went pretty ok. i took my time because my first taillight experience didnt go so well. but ive done my headlights on my previous car a few times and i did my new car. just the tails i wanted to be careful. but anyway the passenger side i have opened also but the problem is gettin the reflector out of the clear housing. its like the key is stuck somehow. im wondering to all that have done the 97+ how did go for you or what am i supposed to do. its pissin me off at the moment so i left it and thought id give it i try on here. yes this thread is old but there was no reason for me to start a thread for this question, plus if someone else tries this the answer will now be in this thread for reference.

I know you gotta be careful on the driver's side as that area around the key has to be broken off at the metal key assembly. Break it off correctly and you aren't buying a new light. Do it incorrectly and you are very pissed.

Post damn dude

i wish you would have posted this a little earlier. I just did the pissed of version.

Anyone have a passenger side tail or the cover. I started to just go ahead and get the dremel out and try it my way by cutting the part your referring to but i thought someone would have mentioned this key point in the modding process. there are only a few 97+ modded tails or threads and it seems like someone would have brought that part up. But thanks SC400TT for this info and now the thread is more complete.

But i learned the hard way. LOL oh well it happens, another side of the learning process.

So I understand that to disassemble the lights you use the oven at a low temp and check every couple minutes until the original glue holding the lens melts just enough to pull it apart?

Also what do you use to put it all back together? Just black silicone? Super glue?
