SC/Soarer question
Was the 91/92 model year the only years the automatics came with the shifter unlock button on the center console for the shifter? I have a 1993 SC, and it doenst have that button. It came in handy when motor swapping my 92 so you dont have to keep putting in the keys to take the car out of park to push it around.

I have the shifter override/unlock button on my 1994. This is the thing where you insert the key/small flathead screwdriver and you can move the dildomatic without putting your foot on the brake right? If so, I thought all SCs came with it.....you need that override to unlock the shifter in case you blow the fuse/relay for your brake lights so you can actually put the car in gear.
edit: This thing right (Circled in red)?

YUP THAT THING!!! The 91/92 actually came with a BUTTON! I guess 93+ they made it a slot......
I guess i really wanna know what year did they go from a button, to the slot. Honestly i thought my 93 car didnt have it, it was just to fill in a void, **** now i can move the car around the shop without hooking up the battery lol.

yeah its simple enough, just lift up the small cover with the key or whatever, stick it in there until you feel some resistance and depress a small button inside, then you can move the shifter freely.

Intersting. The production date of my 1992 is actually late summer of 1991 (its one of the first sc300s), so... Is 1991 the offical date of the button, and slot took over 1992+?
Im trying to use it to reference the year of a car where you cant lookup the vin. Its a Soarer marked as mid 90s, but has a 91 style intake on the 1JZ.. owner claims its original (cant be of course). So either car is 1991 or motor was swapped. From the pictures, it clearly has a button, not slot.
