yup, no more noise of the 20lb old one. reception is just as good, if not better. easy install, only issue is getting it aligned how you like it, and making sure it's a tight seal.

locustom.com makes them, but they sell them on ebay cheaper than their site. go figure.

search the seller 'locustom'

the package is about $40 shipped, and it comes with everything you need. actually it comes with a bunch of wires you won't need. and there is also a plug which you won't need. you just plug it right into the antenna plug and thats it.

the base is somewhat of an oval. the original hole made for the OEM antenna is more of a circle. but you will see that the 'shark attack II' antenna will have more than enough coverage to seal the hole. you just need to position it correctly.

Gracias, actually my IS was missing the roof antenna so I ordered a shark. I think the shark will look better, but I might want this for better reception if I ever decide to use the radio. I'm gonna buy one and keep it in the closet.

It doesn't have to do with short though, the mast is removable. There are over 400 stubby antenna replacements on ebay and they start at an inch long. They just unscrew from the base.

LadySoarer - takes maybe 20 mins. you need to remove the one left panel in your trunk, just a couple of clips. then unscrew the chrome piece on the top of the antenna on the exterior, it has 4 little notches and it is hard to turn, get some thin needle nose pliers. unplug the wire harness and antenna plug. then there is one 10mm (i think) nut inside the car. and the whole assembly will drop right down inside the trunk. the new one has a single nut and locking bracket and 1 plug.

OLT - yes, i understand, you can mix and match masts, or just leave the mast off if you just want that fin type base. i searched around and i liked this style of antenna better. but i'm sure you can find them on ebay for much cheaper. i actually have used the antennas from this particular seller on multiple cars and quality is always great.
