Default With key out, acc. power stays on???

Whats up everyone? It's been sometime since I have visited or posted here. I see alot of the same handles plus abunch on new ones. I have been out of the SC sceen for the past couple of years. I sill own my SC, but have been spending alot of time flipping homes and working on custom motorcycle's. Well back to the SC. This past fall when I was putting my ride away for the winter I started having the problem with the acc. power staying on with the key out of the ignition. So I am now just getting around to fixing the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I don't know if I should first try replacing the ignition itself or try replace the key position sensor. Any advise would be appreciated. Also if anyone is interested. I will be selling a complete drivetrain for a 93 SC400. Complete motor, trans with t/c and rear end. $1,000 for everything. Thanks

Does the radio stay on? Some of the accessories (like power windows) will work and stay on until you open your car door, which is perfectly normal.

No it stay's until it runs the battery dead. I'm guessing its a sensor, because there are times it will go for a few weeks without having any problems. Then one day you go out to start the car and notice the clock is on before you even put the key in. Run it around for the day and shut the car off, pull the key out and your clock, radio, alarm all have power. Thanks.

Sounds like you've got some wires crossed or something. Probably due to a bad stereo or alarm install, thus if you have either, check those connections first.

I just fixed the same problem on a 04 BMW Z4... It came out to be the ignition sensor... behind the ignition switch... I don't know if it is the case for your though..

Thanks for the replies. I'm also leaning towards a sensor, because it is intermittent. Its been a little while since I looked at my service manual, but I remember seeing a key position sensor or something along those lines. I was just curious if anyone else had this problem before I start ripping my dash apart. I'm going to start with the sensor and see what happens. Thanks.
