Default A 5 month review of my 1993 SC300

Background (why I bought this car)

Back in mid-2002, I got a job in downtown Chicago and could not afford to finance my previous car (2000 V6 Accord) with insurance and parking so I sold that car. It was a great car, logging 60,000 miles in 2 years of owning it and visiting the dealership on zero occasions. Only oil changes were done with some mods

3 years later, I got bored of not having a car and started to look around for a cheaper car since I am in my prime and needed to get some stuff out of my system The search started in June 2005 and ended in November 2005. I was looking at the Acura Legend GS (6 sp), Acura RL, Lexus GS 300/400, LS 400, and SC 300/400.

The Acura Legend was nice but the interior was crapped out and rust was all over the car. The RL hmm, nothing wrong with that car except it was boring, and no aftermarket parts could be found for it. The GS were very very nice, and I was very interested but at 20k for a nice newer model, it meant that I had to finance it and with a mortgage starting in Fall of 2006, I did not want the extra burden, plus I knew I was going to spend extra money modifying it.

So that left me with the SCs. My buddy in Cali (Reza in CL) had this SC300 and I drove it a few times I went to Cali. I had driven the SC400 previously in college days and it was very nice. This 300 was also just as nice and it was stick I did not have to finance it and had the base for modifications in the near future. I was planning to spend 3-4 years modifying this car and then buying a LS430 in 2008/2009.

So in mid-November 2005, this nice SC became mine and modifications began. I had some parts shipped to Reza since he could install it for me for free (Thanks man!) and added more in the 5 months following it. Here are some pics

Issues with the car:

I have had some issues with the car, although they are not in the least worrisome, in fact, I put them at the very low end of my to do list at the moment.
- Condensation in passenger side headlight
- Blacked out RPM needle
- Broken Antenna
- Need to replace Fuel Door
- Trunk would not stay up

Mods done in 5 months of owning the car
- TEIN Flex, Cusco FSB, Do Luck Rear Ladder Bar
- SAFC2, Apexi Super Ground Kit, XERD Headers, Flex fans
- 4 new Yokohama Avid V4S tires, SS lines, Ultimate pads front, MM pads rear

Mods in the next 2 weeks
- HKS Twin Power, Daizen F/R sways

Other observations:

I NEED A TURBO!!!!!!!

Great car, fun to drive, reliable, poor mpg (16-20mpg) (compared to Accord V6) Beats Acura luxury hands down, My buddy's 2005 TSX does not even have power passenger seat

Have a great Sunday everyone

I can't view the pics, but it sounds nice!
You can find replacement trunk shocks on ebay. Go to www.lextech.org for your RPM needle.

you gotta fix your pics I cant see them either. I recommend you look at the LS400 bakes upgrade. Very low cost, would complement your SS lines nicely. Maybe some stock Supra TT wheels too since the larger brakes wont fit in the stock wheels.
