Yes your gas mileage will improve as long as your not heavy on the throttle all the time.

Very clean car man. One of the best SCs Ive seen. I am also curious as to how you did the oil. You said you did it all yourself and I am kinda afraid to drill for oil.

BLK97SC300,
I have a few questions for you. I have a JIC catback exhaust and I was wondering if the midpipe that comes with the Dave H kit is going to meet up with my catback exhaust without modification? My catback was a bolt on application that needed no modification with installation on the stock piping. Also, where did you get the Dave H kit for $1900 because the only one I'm finding for under 2k is the basic setup with no midpipe, just the shorty downpipe, manifold, PT61 turbo, wastegate, and wastegate dump tube. Sorry for all the questions, but please help me out. Thanks in advance.

Mike

Allen,
Im running very similar to your setup and wondering have you increase your boost level yet???Mine runs fine upto 10lbs but at 12lbs having some driveability issue. I've been monitoring my SAFC and it doesn't knock even at 12 lbs but having an issues. Do you think something to do with MAF???

I intended to sell my 94 5-sp SC300 several times, but I found more reasons to keep it whenever I visited ClubLexus.

Nice ride.

What did you do with the tail (rear) lens. Are those mod'ed?

you can use safc and boost controller as long as your powerband dont exceed 330hp.
if you chose to boost more than 11psi, then i would recommend changing the injectors. you already have the walbro pump so you're good. the car runs fine right now as you mentioned so i dont think you will need the safc. install boost controller first and see what happens. dont overboost as you are still running stock head gasket or you'll blow something up!!!
like i mention before, get an egt gauge at least before you plan installing safc and boost controller.

I'm not sure whether or not I wana install the fuel controller and/or boost controller right now, but we'll see what happens. With the stock injectors, is there any benefit in having an s-afc installed? It seems as though the stock fuel and timing maps have adapted to the forced induction quite well. If there is a benefit to having a fuel controller, I'll definately think about installing one. Some input on this would be great, thanks guys.

Also, I'd really feel a lot more comfortable if I install a tranny cooler. I wana get rid of the OEM tranny cooling system (thru the radiator). Any suggestions on this? Where are aftermarket tranny coolers usually mounted anyway? Any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance.

OR, would you guys reccomend installing a tranny from an Auto Soarer, and adding an aftermarket tranny cooler to that? Which would be better, the sc300, or soarer tranny?

Yes, I am aware this thread was created back in 2006... Just because its 3.5 years old does not mean anything... I was doing searches and his setup was similar to a project I am looking at doing.

i have the same kit and im baffled when i read this thread.... I dont know how he didnt have a check engine light with no cats on an OBD2 car, i also dont know how he ran that much boost without fuel management, mine is the exact same setup and at 5psi it started going lean in the higher RPM's (varified with a wideband) so i backed it down to 4psi. He either had a freak of nature for an SC or was extremely lucky.

I will say the dave H kit is AWESOME, no clearance issues and the quality/fit/finish is excellent.
