Default Any smog legal 97+ GTEs in CA?

It's possible if you find a 97+ USDM Supra tt motor... but does anyone actually have such a car? I think there were roughly 1600 Supra TTs sold in 97-98 so I figure there have so be some motors from wrecks available. I know it's probably easier to just pay to pass smog than to actually find a 97+ Supra TT motor, but I'm just wondering if anyone actually has a completely legal 97+ GTE in CA.

I guess maybe then the question is, does someone own 97+ GTE car with a barcode sticker from a CARB ref? Whether it's still legal is another story...

i think if any sc would be legal it would be the 92-95 ones. more supras were produce in those years so the chance of finding one of the motors is slightly higher. it would be such a nice CARB legal GTE swap but finding a motor from an USDM TT isnt an easy task.

Haha, FD was a real fun car, but got to be too impractical after a while. How long have you had your SC300? I've had a MB since I sold my FD, but this euro thing is pretty boring so I'm looking for a 97 SC300 (that will probably be impossible for me to leave alone) or a 98+ SC400 (better chance of me leaving it alone).

That's right thats right... i forgot that you sold your CYM. Haven't been on the rx7club or AIM in a while although i still have my FD.

I've had my boat for about a year and a half and have been wanting one since the 90's

I'll be going NA-T, since the car does not need the ludicrous power of 2JZ-GTE. 2JZ-GE+T will be good enough for decent power levels, without all of the hassle of sourcing all those TT parts.

Early models will definitely be easier to do if you're looking to do a 'legal' 2JZ-GTE swap. The Supraforums guys keep a close eye on the very few OBDII Supra TT's that are out there, so chances of scoring one of those engines is slim.

Additionally, it's much harder to find a 5MT 97+ model SC300, unless you don't mind Auto (bleh)
