in case you didnt know, sc's are speed governed to 155... so they can go faster than 150, without hitting 7000rpm, i think my sc400 was at 5500 range traveling 145mph. and sc400 only has 30 more hp than sc300, depending on the year, so its not that much more powerful

i know for a FACT that the SC is not speed govorned at 155mph. i was stuck in the snow once(no, not in orlando), and it didnt stop at 155. at least mine isnt governed... cant say for the 400s or other years.

Yeah, my needle was nearing redine, but not quite all the way there yet. I am sure I could have squeezed a few more mph out of it, but my exit was coming up. Next time I'll see if it gets past 155 or if there really is a limiter (I have a '97 5-speed SC300). I'll let you know...

from what ive read, sc's are electronically limited to 155 mph... some reports on the newer models even say they are electronically limited to 150 mph... also remember that when top speed testing, if you have larger than stock wheels, your speedo may be off a little bit...

I dont know about electronically limited, but on my stock SC300, it would be bouncing off the redline....or real close to it.

Only 30 more hp? I'd kill for 30 more HP on my 300 right about now!

btw...What is the SC300-5speed's redline rpm and calculated top speed potential?

There was a rev limiter on my 1994 sc300, every once in a while it reminded me to shift when doing some laps on Thunderhill's road coarse. About top speed, don't know, I'd run out of straight away to get it much past 125 mph.

After the engine swap my SC's 2jzgte-TT seems to approach that speed on an frakin on-ramp, it's so potent it totally owns the car. Even though the 2j TT can easily peg the tach into the red zone in 5th gear, I've not done it, waiting to get back to T-Hill.

I'm concerned about an impounded vehicle, reckless operation, display of speed and who know how much a tix for +85 over the posted could bring.
