Ive had my SC300 for more than 5 years now. It has been extremely reliable and they only time its been down for more than a day was 2 weeks ago when the alternator gave out while i was on a 2500 mile road trip. I wasnt too happy with her then cause I was in the middle of nowhere in colorado. Most of my problems with the car have started in the past year, it has 156k+ now. The windsheild has grown a crack in it, which has not explantion why it happened. The alternator went. I have had problems with a caliper seizing. Now im getting excess tire wear from the right rear. Ive had a problem with the traction control system that comes and goes, it seem to work itself out now. I have had other issues with rust and it causing problems, it is a 92 and its lived its whole life in ohio except the 7 months i was out in cali. I do all my own repairs and I think its a pretty reliable car. Most of this stuff were fixed in less than a couple hours but I am now thinking of getting another car. I will keep the SC possibly for daily drive or as a back up car for the nice days and when I have to repair my other car. I am also thinking of turboing her and getting all the rust fixed. Put it this way, the SC is not getting sold anytime soon, she might go to my brother for a while but she will get ran into grow by me or someone in my family.

I've had my 95 SC400 for about 2 years now at 122000 miles. It has never given me any problems mechanically (some minor electrical stuff only). What I love is that the engine oil still looks fresh before every oil change.

I keep a Subaru Legacy Outback for the winter and to transport things larger than two golf bags.

I bought my 95 SC400 about 5-6 years ago with around 95k miles. Now at 159k miles its still the best car I have ever owned in my 46 years of living.

I will confess to the death spiral on a slow power steering pump leak that eventually took out my alternator. l knew about it but kept putting it off.

The worst thing about these cars (and any other high quality car) is that they are so damned reliable, they invite lower maintenance and unassuming owners can become lax as a result.

Don't waste your time. Just buy a Toyota Soarer from Japan that is already setup and legalized for U.S. for $8,000. A lot of SC300's are overpiced .

I DD my SC400. 125K miles. Bought it w/50K. No major problems. Meticulous w/maitainence has proven to be key. I do have a hesitation problem that I've heard is rare at 40-45 MPH and am looking for input from other SC400 owners.

No problems with mine. I'm dropping in a 1JZ. Same gas milage of the GE that is in it now, and smooth power band. A no brainer.

I actually enoy my SC a tad more than my supra. Supra has the agressive looks, but also attracts a more "interesting" crowd. The lex is a supra under it's skin, with all the luxury goodness on top hehe
