the sc will do all kinds of funky stuff when that harness gets damaged. I think I posted pix a while back on re-routing. I may have them still (will check later) but MrJohnTan's suggestion is the way I did mine this last time. its the easiest and safest way.

Man you are not kidding there...
About 2 years ago first time driving the car on a track (it was a nighttime free run) and chewed through the harness (my drivers side...your passenger) after about 2 laps. After trying to limp the car off the track spent the next couple hours scouring some junk cars for wire then had to pull harness into engine bay and extend and replace the damaged wires (still had to race the next day and drive home afterwards) finished up repairing the harness around 2am and car ran fine all day at the event/made it home with no issues, other than that was never able to get the auto headlights to work since then.

Man...looks like i found the right thread.

I paid an arm and leg last week to get it the driver side wires "re-located." Got my heart ripped out of my throat, and this week it chewed threw the area they relocated the harness, and now my headlights won't go off. I called up the place and of course they blame it on me.

I haven't done soldering work since summer camp over ten years ago, but it looks like I'm going to have to go both routes this weekend. I'm going to have to re-solder the chewed wires, and re-wire it through the top portion of the wheel well.

Other than going one wire at a time and matching wire colors to what they were originally, can they guys that did the soldering dole out some advice?

just make sure you take a look under there and get an assortment of wires to match the gauge as close as possible.

sum jack stands, Soldering Iron, heat shrink,Radio and a few hours to kill

its pretty straight forward...just takes time.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm trying to get the parts together today. I called the dealer, they told me the wires are probably either 18 or 22 gauge.

I did the re-routing over the weekend and last night til 1:30 in the morning. So, as usual, car projects are not as easy as it looks. The lexus dealer was wrong. The wires run from 22 awg all the way to 8 awg (there's only 1 8 awg wire though). I have reaquainted myself with the ability to measure wire gauge with my eyes now.

there's a hole in the rear of inner fender where I ran all my wires through; then I ran it through the top of the fender. I'm going to bundle the wires together with electrical tape, then tech-flex it (it's basically a braided loom that's pretty durable), then zip tie it to the top of the fender.

All in all, the project was like any car project i've done. Half the time could of been cut down with experience (will be able to do this in half the time next time) and half of the time could of been cut down with good tools. Invest in a good wire stripper! But I'm happy, everything works perfect and i didn't pay some chump 300 dollars.

so what kind of rim sizes and tire sizes do u have to worry about if u dont want to mess up the wiring harness? and how low does the car have to be before u have to relocate it.

that's a good question. I wonder too if there's some type of formula or criteria that's met for these conditions to start apperaing. I personally have 17x8 (i think ti's 8) and the car is lowered over 2"

I had this problem on my Rx-7 and it's starting to happen on the SC. I used a cheap and ghetto solution.

I got a piece of pipe, cut it open to be like a "C", put the wires inside, secured it slightly higher, done. If for whatever reason the wheel rubs it again, it's not going to hurt anything since it's now protected.
