Seems a lot of NY guys like "big N' shiny" rims on their cars, doesn't matter what they do for the car as long and they're BIG and shiny...not my taste but hey, not my car...

(since you asked.)

Actually that's pretty much it. NY likes big chrome dubs. It's kind of a hood style trend in NY.

First of all chrome rims in NY isn't just a "hood" style, if I think that's what you're referring to. You'll see just as many "surburbanites" and all types of people rolling on chrome.

Second of all, I know for a fact a lot of cats in the South and in Cali roll on chromies. Particularly the South, I mean ya'll are known for ridiculous sized chromes wheels on sedans and the like, i.e 26" rims on Impalas, etc. Don't let me find the photos.

I'll tell ya what's impractical about chrome dubs in NY...... the worst roads in the US, potholes + the easiest wheels to bend and flake are chrome dubs.

I bought a set of wheels from NY and it took me two months to get under the car for an oil change to see the pothole marks in the wheels. (seller was not at fault BTW, neither of us knew they were there). Buy wheels from NY again?.......... only from a very few people on here.

I've got to be honest... when I see chrome ultra-bling wheels here in Southern California, they are:

1) On a soccer Mom's SUV. The dealer sold it to her this way.

2) On a Caprice, Sentra, or older car. They are making payments on the wheels @ 22% APR

3) Any other car in the Ghetto.

I like the idea of 20s on the SC, I'm just not a fan of the ghetto-fabulous/bling style.
But it's your car. Enjoy! Big pimpin'

Haha. I didn't think 'aweful' looked right.

It's not just having chrome that looks ghetto. I think the factory chrome wheels are beautiful. It's just that you have 20" of it instead of a proper size and the wheel is just ugly to begin with.

I third or fourth the awfulness...but the phenomenon is also in Chicago...You'll see $3k worth of dubs and tires on a $1,200 car...If they don't make the payments the Repo man takes the wheels and leaves the "P.O.S." on blocks!!!

20's on the SC are not my style, but it's not my car either. The wheels DO look a lot better after you got the black off of them. Good luck with your car and don't listen to everyone's opinion. Keep on modding!!
