Default Window tint question

Hey guys,
I just got my windows tinted earlier today. I paid $195 for 20% tint all the way around including a front strip on the windshield. And as you all know the SC has that brake light on the rear windshield. Apparently with mine they simply cut around it instead of tinting the entire rear windshield, leaving the brake light area with no tint. It does not look clean at all to me from the outside.. its like wow tint, and then there's a spot without it where the light is at.
I complained to the guy at the shop I got it done at and he said he'd have to ask the tint guy when he came back into work (he had already left for the day). But he said that in order to do that a few hours of labor would be required to take off the speaker/light assembly.
My question is, are they supposed to tint that entire area? Or are they allowed to just trim around it.

I took pics on my phone, I'll post them up as soon as I get home.
btw, the "front strip" they charged me for isnt even a strip, its more like a spray on type..
only reason I went to this certain shop was because I had heard good reviews from them...

Sorry to hear that!
Lazziness! That's just lazziness! That reminds me of tint companies that try to tuck the tint under the rubber stripe instead of taking of the door panel off to tint the whole window. I usually tell companies exactly how I want things (ie. stereo installations, tints, etc...) that way you don't run into extra charges, hidden fees, etc...
Good Luck and I hope you get it resolved.

Are they suppose to do that? well if you want them to... usually they ask and say hey do you want me to tint the whole thing or just around the light? some people only want it around the light.....and some people like the light to be covered... it's not that they're lazy i don't think... but they should have asked you..... by the way either way it should stay the same price.... if they hassle you.

Hain.....take off your third brake light cover YOURSELF. It's like a 25 second job. Lodge the cover free from the clips, and pull up. Disconnect the wire harness for the bulbs and put the cover on the seat. There is your labor for removing the speaker cover, at that point they should be able to tint just as they did for the rest of the bottom part of the rear glass. That excuse he gave you is so bogus.

If it takes someone a few hours to remove the cover and replace it, someone shouldn't be tinting windows, they should instead go to school.

I've never had my windows tinted, but it sounds like they should have at least told you they
were going to cut around the brake light. If it was going to take more time to remove the light,
then they should have been up front. In business, there should always be clarity. Anytime
there is a question and it isn't asked, chances are there are going to be problems.

If it's a reputable shop and they have experience, they should have given you the option
whether it was covered or not.

I hope they can settle this matter fairly. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the support guys! I'm going to talk to the owner later today, hopefully we can work something out. I know it's not that hard to just take off the cover on the speaker/light, but my guess is either he was just lazy or he thought I'd want it cut.. either way, here are pics, tell me what you think!

thats odd. that few hours of labor sounds way off. i got my car tinted 35% front and 25% rear in about an hr and 1/2 for $210. they never asked about my 3rd brake light so the entire rear is tinted. the only thing that throws me off is "a few hours of labor" thing.

good luck man. funny you mention this cause i saw a corolla today with the cut out and thought it looked plain weird.

Last one.. I personally do not think it makes the car look "clean", its like a spot sticking out.. but i think it might be growing on me.. do you guys think it looks good or bad?
