Arrow SC400 Power Ratings?

Hey guys. I'm new to these boards. I've got a 1992 SC400. I was wondering if anyone could post the power specs for this car. And did the power specs change over the years? Also - what changes were made over the years to the SC400 model?

Thanks!

Rated 250hp at stock at the flywheel, probably putting out somewhere around 220hp at the fly for you now after all these years....

Hey Benny,

Most of the topics you might have questions for are usually covered in this forum... so if u can please search for it before you start a new thread...

But here I'll help you a bit

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=183955

and the next link is to my personal dyno runs... you can see my baseline and you can judge what you think your car can and will make...

oh, really?

isn't that sort of low for a V8?

i mean, i dont know much about these cars... but it seems a little low.

the car is actually in great condition. it still has just under 100,000 KM on it... so something like 62,000 miles.

im the second owner... first owner put something like 20,000 KM on it.

can someone give me the torque ratings?

and 1 more question: i've read that for the 92 models, there was a recall on the brake systems.

UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AN INCORRECTLY PROGRAMMED ABS/TC (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE/TRACTION CONTROL) COMPUTER COULD RESULT IN A FAILURE TO RELEASE REAR BRAKE LINE PRESSURE. WHEN BRAKING, THIS CAN CAUSE FRONT BRAKE OPERATION ONLY AND REAR BRAKE DRAG. CORRECTION: ABS/TC COMPUTER WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY. ANY BRAKE DAMAGE WILL ALSO BE REPAIRED.
can anyone confirm this?

The power level is consistant with the time they were made. If you look at other cars of that era they fall in line. The motor is only a 4.0 L., my 4.0 L jeep comanchee has 175hp and 210lbft of torque. The pre98 lexus 4.0L is somewhere around 260hp and 270lbft. Based soley on engine size the Lexus V8 is a better performer than the LS2 corvette V8. 400hp/6L = 66.6hp per L vs 290hp/4L = 72.5hp per L(98 and later 4.0L). But that doesn't mean you are going to go out and start beating Corvettes in the your stock SC400. Well, maybe if you are dreaming.

I have no idea about any recalls due to brake issues.

yeah. you make a good point. the car drives nice, and is pretty fast too.

if anyone know more about that recall issue, i'd love to know. i think im gonna take my car to the dealer... i think i have the problem described there.

by the way - are there alot of heavily modded SC400's on these boards? i'm considering a turbo/supercharger setup.

forced induction will cost like a b***h on SC400s. Think about 15K for a good setup.

well, if not a forced induction setup, what other options are there to crank alot of power out of these engines?
