no ac and summer is starting san antonio
Here it is the start of summer and my air conditioner went out.
The display on the controller shows nothing although the backlight for the LCD appears to be on.
I checked AC fuse in the engine compartment and the one in the car and these are not blown.
Not sure where to go next.
What do you suggest.

check ALL kick panel fuses. then check cig lighter.
I had this problem, what it was was the previous owner had the Radar detector "hard-wired" into the kick fuse panel....So after some time with that fuse blade extender, the blade holders, were stretched...also one of your wires in the back of that panel may have come loose.
enjoy!!!

Possible Causes
I ruled out compressor fluid leaks as the source of the problem for my 95 SC400 because the control is blank only backlit and on a 1991 LS400 when the compressor cut out from loss of freon there was no change in the operation of the control, just no cool air.
I will check ALL the fuses. I check all in engine compartment and 1 thru 15 in the left kick.

I've got a similar problem in Austin... and it's starting to get hot.
I ran the A/C diagnostics (guys posting in this thread, do a search on 'A/C light blinking') and I get code 00. I assure you that despite this, I get no A/C. Guess the internal diagnostics don't always help all that much.
What do you look for in the cigarette lighter? Just the fuse for it? Something physical about it? Just curious... I'd check that next if I knew what to look for.
TIA.

problem fixed
Thanks all for all help.
The problem was that the cell phone charger was shorted so it blew the fuse and when replaced it blew the fuse again.
Threw away charger and replaced fuse for cigarette lighter. Note that another symptom is that the time can not be changed on the clock.
thanks again and I will just have to learn how to do search on this forum. thanks jewtheist
