Well you don't really need pics with the same question and answers like these https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...inting-sc.html

Before anyone takes their car to a shop that is really cheap and/or without any references, this thread should serve as a reminder of all things that could possbily go wrong with bodywork.

http://my350z.com/forum/the-lounge-o...0z-ruined.html

I know it is an extreme example but just beware.

if your paint is good and you just want another color. dont even bother...save up and do it right.

if you have a beater drift/track car with 7 different colored panels that you just want to look 'better' not good not great but better. then by all means do the maaco.
Very true. I have a few friends that just replace panels (from junkyards) instead of fixing major dents on their 4WD's and take them to maaco every two years or so.

prep work is almost everything and not all Macco are the same.

you can have a good painter paint a car but if it wasn't prep right, I'll look ****ty. the paint would still be shinny and glossy but it was a terrible job.....

i know i used to be that prepper

Guy's I took my s13 to Earl's and it turned out decent!?! but I did tip the guy that shot the car and the guy that did the body work, plus I did the prep work ex: masking and removing anything I could (maybe helped). I strongly advise that you talk to the shop owner ( I did and they shot the sides skirts rears valances off the car > TIP!) and if he's there and express the way you feel about your ride. I also followed somebody's advise and went to a earl's that had a bunch of old guys working there, been painting for years and could do it there sleep.

Here's pictures of my old coupe:

I'd like to see the car today. I want to see how much of the paint has/hasn't cracked, chipped or flaked off.
Most people dont want to (or are afraid to) do prep work. That's a lot of work.

Orange peel is another story. I still see quality jobs with orange peel (and these weren't cheap paint jobs).

Bottom line

-----------------------------------------------------------

You dont get quality work for discount prices. Sometimes even full prices leave you with a bad taste.

How much do you care about the car?

It could also be the paint. Acrylic Lacquer is very brittle, which is what most shops use. It's just not as durable as urethane. No amount of clear will cover that up. Orange peel can always be colorsanded out.

No argument there. But will they take the time?
