Im not sure if this has already been brought up but I found an episode of Top Gear where Jeremy tests a Lexus Sc400. It has Lexus emblems but also says Soarer, It has the digital Cluster and a sat nav touchscreen system that also controls Climate control! Has anyone ever seen one with the sat nav system?

I've seen it. He was told incorrect information by the Toyota/Lexus liaison given the "280 horsepower" he mentioned. Ah, the UK and its lax grey market importation...

Two things stand out to me though:

First, they were testing the SN95 Mustang earlier in this video and it was then and still is not exactly the best RWD car out there. Not without a LOT of suspension work or until the '99 Cobra with IRS came out. This was also when the 4.6L engine had little more than 260hp. The DOHC Cobra of the time made 306hp but I don't think that was what they were driving. Suspension-wise this is the company Clarkson compared the SC/Soarer to at the time and it shows.

Second, why on Earth didn't any of the presenters at Top Gear every test out a Soarer 1JZ 5-speed of any year? It was never an official UK Lexus vehicle but they could have obtained one if they wanted to.

I new I would find one on this show. The Pretender, from 1996 episode 14 at 36:28, a black SC. Oh yeah.

 

There is clean SC in the movie "The Usual Suspects" in the parking garage when they do their "2nd Job" together. You get a pretty good look at it too! Its about 45 minutes into the movie.

It was cool to see a brand new Soarer in the movie. That racer must have had serious money.
