Should I lower my car without a body kit, or body kit without drop?
Hello CL,
I'm new to the forums and I have been scouring the boards to find an sc400 with a body kit, but with stock suspension. While I know that many of the members think that having a body kit without the drop is ridiculous, I'm still curious on how it would look because I don't know if I have the money to do both a kit and a drop. Do you guys have any pics of an sc like this?
I'm also considering just doing the drop without the body kit. If I do this, should I just go out to the body shop and have them do it, or do it first need to buy a lowering kit? I am a complete newb to this, so it would be great if I could get a little info on how I should go about lowering my sc400. (Also how low should I lower a 92 SC?)

a drop contains new springs and maybe new shocks. Not all that expensive for just springs. If yuo can afford a body kit and paint and install, you should be able fit the springs into your budget pretty easily. lowering springs usualyl cost only $100-$300 for a set so its not a big expense compared to the $thousands you spend on doing a proper body kit install/paint/aquire.

This is the order of the tuners:
23. Never put a Aero kit nor aftermarket wheels on before a drop, however dropping a stock car is permitted. The order shall be as follows:
1. Lower the vehicle
2. Install Aftermarket wheels
3. Install Aero Kits
4. Install Aerodynamic Anesthetics
5. Now following decals

So for the moment I think I might go with just doing a drop and getting some new wheels.
Considering that the car is already low, I'm afraid that an aero kit will scrape like crazy on inclines. How far should I lower it? and how do I go about doing it? Just go to a body shop or should I purchase some kind of lowering kit online?
By the way, i don't really consider myself an import tuner. I just want my ride looking clean as hell. I want to paint my car black, get black rims, and black pearl emblems. Nothing too fancy like decals and the like.

i don't have pics of my bodykit on stock suspension but i do have it on eibach/tokico setup which as is looks already like stock.
eibach/tokico
after drop with coilovers
if you look closely to see the top of the stock size tires, you can tell that the eibach/tokico was not a very apparent drop. so i guess somewhat like that.

I wouldn't go over 18" with that body style though.

Here is a drop, no kit:
SW's turbo'd SC (I think these are 19s)
and Manaray's SC400 with a JIC kit, lowered on 20s
Things to consider:
Terrain
Correct offset of wheels
Correct size tires
Good quality workmanship

I would just do a 97+ kit with a nice drop and 18s (if you live in the north) or 19s if you live in an area without snow.
I have a 97sc300, 18s and a drop. I've got my wheels, waiting on teins before the wheels get installed. I did the same thing with my acura legend.
