so mad!
ok so a couple months ago i put up a thread about how i got rear ended and a check was cut from the other insurance company for $12,000 to fix it. I guess i should of just listend to everyone that said to take the money and run. i got the call yesterday that my car was finished. "the car looks like a million bucks i worked on it personaly blah blah blah." i pull up and im looking........and looking.....somethings different. 4 some reason i guess they figured the 92-96 rear end was the same as the 98. wrong spoiler wrong bumper and the lights look weird i cant figure that out yet. oh yes and i cant 4get that the glass they used its a totaly diff shade of green then my from windows. actualy its not green at all. its browish. ya so the whole thing is a biggg disaster. the sun roof they used doesnt seem to fit as tight. one of the lights is already out or a light is on saying so at least on the dash. i just cant bleive it. i guess all i cant learn from this is lexus makes awesome cars but once someone fuxks with it they will never be the same
other then that im in a delema i could tell the guy look ur a srew up now fix it but i dought he would put the same effort he did in it the first try then the 2nd and if i suck it up andj ust take it
first im not so into that style
and second im going to lose alot of money if i ever wanted to sell the car
if ur buying a 98 chaces are its probalby not going to have a 92 rear end
if i wanted that i would of just took the money fromt he insurance company and bought a damn 92 for cheap!!!! ahhhh

So you say:
"Car was not fixed to spec, fix it correctly PLEASE"
IF that doesn't work, have your attny send a letter "fix it properly or we'll make you fix it properly"
12 g's is a lot of $$$$ and if you paid for it to be done right, then it should be done right. HOWEVER if you skimped and used ghetto land body repair (and it kinda sounds like you may have, most reputable shops know they are obviously not installing the correct part) then you somewhat got what you paid for.
Need to know more details about the shop and the "deal" to fix it.

If you have the 97+ Tails i'll trade ya my 92's that are in practically exellent condition for them
That is if you want to keep the car looking its age.
Or am i seeing this the wrong way?
Do you have a 98 with 92 tails? Or a 92 with 98 tails? Im confused now after rereading it.

Yep, get an attorney involved if they do not fix it properly to 1998 OEM spec/restore it to the condition it was in prior to the accident.
Next time use a better shop, while Lexus does build the best quality from the factory, despite an accident, a good body shop can make the car back the way it was. My guy does fantastic work, 2 frontal crashes in 5 years and the car still looks, runs, and feels factory.

Now it all makes sense, i wouldnt be able to figure out why someone would complain if they put 97+ tails on a 92, i would take that as a mitzva. But since i have that straight now, take that car back to the shop and demand they repair it correctly, because im assuming its in their policy.

So how much was this shop charging to do all the work?? I am guessing a lot less than $12,000 right??
Obviously they are either idiots, or else they think you are. Anyone who knows anything about SC's can tell one year from the next by the tails.
More details????

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the auto repair. Just goes to show you Club Lexus knows
best.
Guys with years of experience here will probably make a better call on what to do with your car.
$12K is a lot of money to spend on fixing an 8 year old car. I hope they take the car back and
get it done right...although it doesn't sound like they are up to the task.
Keep us posted.
best.

Your best bet is to get a lawyer...There is no way a shop is going to go right ahead and fix the mistake...Plus if you signed the paperwork saying the car is satisfactory when you picked it up, you've lost "one" leg to stand on. Get the "Better Business Bureau" involved too. http://www.bbb.org/
To them (body shop), they are looking at the fact that all the new repairs to make it right, will be coming out of their pocket...I'm sure they are not about to "skip on over" and fix it without a fight.
Good luck!!! I hope it goes well for you. God knows I'd be a flippin lunatic about it!!!
