Not worth it...... I would suggest that if you REAAALLLYYY want to run HIGH HP ...... get a 300.
I was looking at one the other day and al,most pulled the trigger on the deal...but I thought I'd think about it over the weekend
2 SC coupes at one house (girlfriend)may not help the relationship... lol

Trying to get power from an SC400 is hopeless. Opening up my '93 has improved it I think to about it's limit, my 1/4 miles tell me the car's making about 225-235 at the tires. Forced induction is the only place to go from here, and like the old Powerglides (powerslip is their nickname) luxury and performance don't mix when it comes to automatic transmissions. Yeah I could run NOS, but I'd have to have a tank the size of the trunk to match my driving habits
God, I wish Toyota would build the Supra again.

you can get a j-spec supra twinturbo engine in your car and it will boost bout 800 hp... the engine cost bout 5 grand

What are your mods to get 230-235 at the wheels. I have measured about 195-200 rwhp with a gtech. I only have a custom exhaust with rear cat removed and true duals from the convertors back. Still have the stock mufflers. I am thinking of removing the front cats and adding some dynomax ultraflo's. Do you think it would help??

yeah the ENGINE costs that much... to make that much power it will cost another $12000 or so not to mention a tranny and ECU setup to go with it...

its not that simple... but 800hp isn't the limit for the car... plenty making more than that around the USA... and the j-spec motor is about the same as the US-spec

This brings me to my point, just BUY an SC300 with a 5-speed and if you can't find a 5-speed get one with an auto for a good deal if you can find it; this is all if you intend to make the car go fast...

95rwhp extra from a twinturbo mod? LOL then it will be ALMOST able to hang with a $22k Z28

I called Mechtech about their so called turbo kit. They told me it wasnt available as a kit and that they only did that one car. And if I wanted it done I would have to send my car to them and pay about 15K. For 250 - 300 whp?@#$@ No way! Not worth it at all.

As far as how string the SC400 motor is, not many people have tried to take the motor to the limits in stock form. So its hard to say. But I have read and heard people say that it can handle 500 - 800 hp. Transmission is another story. Heres a modifier that is doing some cool things with the SC400. The car's sound is interesting.. I left everything stock in the exhaust system except for the weak points, I replaced the mufflers with magnaflows and instead of running a true dual I put in a crossover. I also use a weapon-r shielded cold air intake with their V2 air filter. I'm using the equation, weight of car + driver and the trap speed, but it would be fun to see what one of those performance meters says.

thanks for that link! thats awesome!!!! and the guy did it without changing his transmission! hell yah i'll buy some superchargers and accessories for that!
