Well ever sense i got the car ive had a problem with the vent blowing hot air. I mean i know its hot around here 90+ at the moment and about 90-100 tomorrow according to the paper. Well even when its like in the mid 80's my vent always blows hot air. I like using my air conditioner but i like driving with my windows down so there is no point to run the a/c. I feel like my heater is running when its on. Once in a while i will get lucky and the car will blow some cool air through the vent for a day or two. Does anyone have this problem and if so does anyone know how to correct it if it can be corrected?

I can also feel heat from floor panel and ebrake too. I noticed that this happened after I had problems with the cooling system. Had to change my radiator because of leaks. Was ok and no heat in cockpit for a while, but now I noticed that I have a crack in my coolant reservoir which causes a leak and I can start to feel the heat again.

a lot of the heat comes from the cat or cats..... there nothing much you could do there. but the vent heat is actually coming from your heat/cooling system. i had the same problem as well, but i was able to temporarily fix it. there was an older thread that discussed this problem,
solution attempt #1: turn on your AC on, crank it on cold full blast, then turn it off. now drive and see if it does the same. (this didn't work for me)
solution attempt #2: (this will disable your heat untill you reverse this process) remove the tiny heater vac hose. i think thats what you call it. for the 92 sc400, it's located under the hood, toward the back, on the passenger's side. it looks like a small can with a tube coming out the top. (i like this idea because i didn't need heat until around Nov.)
that's all i can help you with, if you guys need anymore help with this problem i recommend you to look for that thread. it's very helpful. hope this helps!!!

well, i don't have cats, and i just replaced my radiator and i still get mad heat. i will try the heater hose thing. i have a 7 hour road trip tomorrow, so this would be the perfect time to test it, lol. now i'll read those other 2 threads. i was thinking about lining my entire floor, under the carpet with that heat dynamat stuff. hmm.

I live in Miami and I rarely need to use the heater, so I unplug the connector to the solenoid that sends vacuum to the heater control valve. This shuts off the water to the heater core. I never liked the idea of mixing heat and air conditioning anyway. When it does get cool in the winter, I simply plug the connector back into the solenoid --- it takes a few seconds. The valve on my car ('94 SC400) is under the hood on the passenger side next to the firewall. As a side note, the solenoid went bad on my car several years ago resulting in no heat at all. I replaced it with an EGR solenoid from Pep Boys (I had to cut off the connector from the old solenoid and solder it to the new one). It was a fraction of the cost of the one from Lexus ...
