Hello Lexus Forums! Long time reader, first time poster. I recently found a 1997 Lexus SC300 , black/black, 5 speed, 68k miles. Sounds perfect doesn't it? But I found out that it has a salvage title(got hit on right fender and back bumper, all been replaced) and that it was originally an automatic car. The car looks clean in the pictures and I plan on checking it out in person, but this person is asking $9,200 obo for this. Is it worth it? He informed me that 97+ years did not come out in 5 speed which I think is a lie but I know enough that I realize 5 speed in SC300 is rare enough. I'm sketchy about getting a salvage title car and I'm wondering can I make it rebuilt? How would I go about doing that? Thank you.

97 is the last year they came out w/ the 5 speed. buying a salvaged car is always a gamble, sometimes it is somethin very minor, but u'll never know. gs4ac is selling his 97 spd black on black w/ 72k miles i think for 15 obo in the for sale forum. Maybe u should check that out.

if it was hit in the rear no biggie depending on how bad it was .that price is a lil bit steep considering i was converted to 5 speed and it has a rebuilt title .but its up to you if you want it .i paid 7,500 for mines and its a 94 .if i know i could of got a 97+ for the same pricerange i would of do it .still love the 94 though. good luck with your decision
