Im looking to possibly buy some wheels from a friend. Ive been looking for a decent looking winter wheel so that i could avoid the stock ones at all costs. These wheels are 17x7.5 with a +38 offset all around. The price is definitely right, but what are your feelings on the appearence? I just want a winter wheel that is going to look better than stock (most anything would). I'm trying to get an idea of that width and offset on an SC?? Opinions?

supra tt wheels are 17" and look and work well. Imho, 18" is the best size but a tastefully done 17"(aka oem like look) can look good too, espicalyl fi you can get some decently wide wheels on the rear.

Hey man, we all do what our budget affords...I just happened to luck out and get my 19's for about the same price as a set of used TT wheels w/o tires
Moving up an inch (or even 2 in some cases) in rim diameter isn't worth it to me. I'd never put a 17" rim on the SC simply because the wheel wells are so large, needs at least an 18" rim to fill that fender gap tastefully.

Doesnt have anything to do with budget, i just wanted something larger and better looking than stock for my winter wheels. IMO the SC is way too big to be sitting on 15" wheels. It looks ridiculous.

he's looking for WINTER wheels. For winter wheels you would want as narrow of a tire as you can get (i.e. not 17X9 rims). I guess 17X7.5 is okay if you don't get rims with skinny spokes or something. The stockers and TT wheels look alright since they don't have skinny spokes making them look small and whimpy IMO. But like Mikeloc siad, I would stick with the stockers since they are narrower width, look good, and you would have more money to spend on a set of nicer winter tires.

I'm in SoCal, so my idea of "winter" might be a lil different than yours
But if it's gonna be all snowy and icy where you live are the looks of a wheel really that important where you want to switch wheels just to move up an inch? It just seems like a big waste of time IMO.

Oh, my 17s are for summer use, I think I misread the post.
I use the crap 15" turbines for the snowy winters and potholes of NY, I don't want salt and sand and crap scratching up some rims I paid good money for. Just use stocks for winter and use the money to buy some nicer summer rims. Then if you already have aftermarkets, you could resell those or use THOSE as your winter ones, but with better tires.

Staggered 18's for the summer are already taken care of. I had an opportunity to get some decent/clean 17" wheels at a low price and was thinking of using them for my winter set. The 15" stock wheels just drive me nuts and I wasnt going to have a lot invested in the 17's. I'm really just trying to keep the SC looking as good as possible all year round and with the snow in Ohio, the nice wheels must come off. I wasnt sure how a 17x7.5" wheel was going to look. Since i didnt get the wheels, i guess we can end the discussion. Thanks for the feedback.
