Just as the title says. I found a low mile 91 RHD Soarer that I would love to buy, but can I legally own it in the US? I started doing a little reading on it and came up with little useful info. I figured that since I have seen a few on here I would ask those who own a Soarer how they went about getting one. It would be pretty cool owning a LHD 400 and RHD Soarer. Maybe even make them look identical.

companies charge a LOT of money to modify imported cars to meet US Specs...i heard you can register one in the Bahamas, then bring it over to the US shores easy. i have no idea if that is true, though. isn't the Bahamas only 60 feet wide?

It might be easier to ship it to Puerto Rico and get it to the US. Than through the Bahamas
I know if you google "Soarer Importing" this guy in Montreal is selling a 91 RHD soarer 5spd. Maybe email him and ask him how he did it.
getting one through Canada might be the easiest of all.
15 Year old JDM vehicles are legal in Canada. On most importers' websites though, it says they cannot register imported cars in the US. There are a few Soarers for sale in Canada if you look.

Or you could get one drive it here, and buy a wrecked SC. no engine...
Vin plate transfer?
Title in hand.
Go get some plates.
I plan on buying a Skyline next year from Canada... not sure if I could just drive it over, so I plan to have my friend with dual citizenship actually drive it over the border for me...
