OK, here's the deal. My dad gave me his '92 automatic SC 300 about a month ago, and i absolutely love the car (chick MAGNET). But, I REALLY wanna put some performance mod's on it; HOWEVER, it has 180,000 miles on it. I am afraid it will die on me soon, and i don't want to put a lot of money in it if its days are numbered. I am torn between 3 choices. 1: forget how old the car is and the mileage on it and proceed with getting exhaust, turbo, etc. 2: Engine swap, like a supra TT engine and transmission. 3: get an entire new car, preferably another SC, 5spd, maybe 80,000 miles on it. PLEASE help me out with this one, I really am clueless on what to do.

My advice is to keep the car and build the motor. Either a Supra swap, or simply have your current engine re-built to your specs.
Think about it - current car = Free
To sell your car and buy a lower meilage car (still stock) = $5,000-$10,000
Or, drop that $5-10K into your existing car and have a sweet 12 second Lexus!!! With possibly some change left over for a nice paint job and some new leather on the seats.
Feel fortunate that your dad was nice and gave you the car. Took me a long time to save up for mine. You just saved yourself a lot of money, so spend what you do have on fixing it up. A lexus will last a very long time; I wouldn't sweat the meilage. Just keep it tuned up, and don't beat the hell out of it.
Have it re-built professionally. Contact Swift Racing as see what they might reccomend as some options.

I would say over $10k for a 12 second SC unless you added nitrous along with a turbo. Don't forget brakes and suspension and tranny work to go along with that 12 sec motor. Speed cost $$.
Is there any reason to ditch the car besides it having 180k miles on it? Seems that if you know the history of the car, you have a pretty good idea what can/will go wrong with. Buying any good used car requires diligence, knowledge, and hard work. Are you ready to invest the time to buy a good car?
Since you already have the car, save your cash for a rebuild when it blows up. And then you could put your go fast goodies in it.
Meanwhile, enjoy the chick magnet. Never can have too many of those.

The Car is in amazing condition. The only thing that is bugging me is the mileage. I think that i am gonna rebuild the engine. I am not really sure where to get it done at, but i'll figure it out. I now think that buying an entire new car would be stupid considering I have a very nice one now. And from what i hear supra swaps wont really give me the Hp that I want.

your in jaxonville...bring it down to toyomoto and slap a turbo on until the motor gets tired...then rebuild the motor...a stage 1.5 turbo will cost around 7500 and you can run 10psi on stock compression and have a 12sec car...sc300t has this kit on his car and runs 12.70 on full street tires....you can buy a junk yard sc300 motor for like 1000-1500..and tranny for around a 1000......the stock motor can handle 600rwhp with just the addition of a head gasket.....email me if you have more questions and ill be happy to help..Jeff
