Question Help. Taking 97+ Tails Apart.

I'm going to take my 97+ tails apart to spray the orange piece red. But, I need to know what temperature to put them in the oven at. Also, how long. A write up would be even nicer. I know not many people have done this on their 97+ tails. But for those that have accomplished it, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

OLT did a write up on baking your headlights....I'm sure its the same for the tails. your gonna have to search for it though.

actually there are a few DIY's on it.

look up "custom taillights"
or "97 tails"

Okay... So if I break them you'll send me some replacements or send me some money via PayPal?

I'm not sure if this is what you want but it may help a little.

Those lights were done really really well. Only problem is that it doesn't say how to take them apart. The tails are in the oven as I type at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. I'll see how it works. Then, if everything goes smoothly, I'll do a write up. Thanks for the thread.

Dont take a chance and destroy those, trade me for my old 92's and have fun with those, they are cheaper to replace if you mess them up

Too late. I already started. I have the left one almost finished. Look for yourself. I'll post up finished pics when I'm done.

Default Tail lights

Poke,

There is a post on the board by a guy that used a spray to do his lights. He did not take them apart. His looked like brand new items when he finished. In his thread he mentioned that there were a couple of sprays out there that were inferior and he ID'd the product he used. I know that you are done with yours and they look awesome, really great, but maybe you might like options when making recommendations....maybe.

The thread about taking them apart said 300 degrees for 15 min and MAKE SURE THE PLASTIC DOES NOT TOUCH ANY METAL IN THE OVEN. He suggested laying the lens on a thick layer of news print.

Again, your job leaves nothing to be desired at all.

John
