About to buy SC400
Hey guys, I'm a newb when it comes to the whole Lexus brand.(switching from Honda) I've been reading up on the sc's the last few weeks and I've decided to buy one. The one I'm looking at is a 93 sc400 with 153,000 miles, one owner for $4,995. The dealership said the timing belt was changed at 97,000 miles, my question is, is there anything else I should look for when checking the car out. Would you recommend I take it to a mechanic for inspection. Does $4,995 sound like a good price, I may try to go lower if I can. And how is the reliability for this year or is it too old to get. Sorry for all the questions guys, I'd really appreciate your help with this. BTW great site, you guys are some really cool peeps and actually help each other out , unlike some other boards I've been on.
Thanks
Thanks

Like Malik said, the used car inspection is invaluable.
Age and mileage is fine. Mine is a 92 SC400 and I'll be turning 200k miles within the next 1- 1/2 months. Still gets 20mpg!
Common issues with the age is discolored headlamps, suspension bushings, dash lighting problems, climate control lighting problems, depending on whether the car has the Nakamichi or Pioneer system there are some issues there.
Again, these are basically issues you would expect to see on any car with 150,000+ miles and one that is 14+ years old.
Most important thing is the condition of the drivetrain. If the vehicle was maintained properly she'll have quite a bit of life left in her.

Just what I was looking for, mkorsu. Thanks for the info and thanks for the link SwampFox. You both have been very helpful. I was kind of worried about the year and mileage, but if she still has a lot of life in her, I'll consider buying her only after I do that inspection. Thanks to everyone that has helped me out!
