Last month i switched from Farmers to Progressive and went from $2,080 a year to $1,200. I was told I was getting the best rate that Farmer's has. I am middle aged so that is in my favor. The coverage is for a 2001 GS430 and a 2001 Grand Cherokee LTD. Did you know insurance companies set their rates by breaking cities down into zones, so it's possible to move a few blocks from where you live now and save 40% or more on your policy, because the insurance company has that part of town rated safer.

Default SC400 insurance...

Problem, im trying to buy this 1994 SC400 but my insurance company is quoting me nearly 3200/year which I think is waaay too much compared to others (1997 Nissan Maxima 2000/year).

Anyone know ways to bring down the price?

What do some of you other people pay?

I'm 21 paying 2600 dollars/yr.
250 deductible for comprehensive and 1000 for basic collision. I've tried at least 10 insurance companies, and this was the best reate I could get.

Do you have defensive driving courses over there? If so, take it.

I know, I searched, but a lot of them are outdated, so the prices are much different now.

You can't get a good indication of price since everyone has a different history and live in different places.

at my insurance company, the sc400 is labeled as a "high performance car" or something so the rates are higher than say a sedan.

actually i see two threads very recent, one of them just in the last week.

anyway, you need to be asking a few insurance agents. noone here knows your history, and couldnt tell you a rate if they did. The "outdated" threads will give you a good ballpark, even if the rates changed in the last 6 months to a year, it still wouldnt resemble YOUR individual rate. As an example, my insurance on the SC cost me roughly $550 every 6 months. it may cost you $275 PER month. too many factors for someone to take into account. Geico and the other large agents have 24 hour quote hotlines and websites with Q&A. just do some searching, after all.. they wil be the ones that give the rates since it is them you will be paying.

good luck.

You're comparing different class cars here.
