1. The New Max based on 0 -60 and quarter mile stats is faster than the 98 + SC4. Not by a lot but the Max can get 0-60 around 6.0 - 6.3 sec's. The SC was never tested under 6.3 sec.
2. I raced the Max in my 97 SC400 not 98.
3. The best real HP dyno you gonna get out of a stock 98 + SC4 is about 220 rwhp. My modded 97 was at 245 rwhp. What Super mods do you have on your car ???
4. The Max I ran, had intake and full exhaust, Max's respond very well to those mods and this guy could drive, power braked and gate shifted his Max..
Did the old lady you " Romped On "really try ? Because something aint right here about your race.

1. I'm aware of the maxima specs. Specs do not mean much in a car race. it's 14.7 for the max and around 14.7 for the 98+sc400's. So this leads me to believe that the maxima had something wrong w/ it or wutever. And the maxima only has 265 hp and 255 tq. When the 98 has 290 and 300tq, take into consideration the newer hp ratings and weight, the sc400 should be a tiny bit quicker.
2. I know u raced it in the 97
3. lol only 220 to the wheels? I dont think so, but i could be wrong. factory specs say 290, and i dont think it would lose 70hp through the drive train, but again, i could be wrong.
4. i understand your race now, try to understand mine. Maybe the dude in the maxima had some problems i dunno, but iknow i was 3-4 car lengths, and was goin from a stop to about 70-80. A street race has many different factors other than what stats are down on paper.

Hate to tell you but ALL cars lose a tremendous amount of horsepower through the drive train. I believe that he was dead nuts when he said that the 98+ sc400 rated at 290 from the factory was putting 220 to the ground...

What do you mean by dead nut ? I am wrong ? The SC had a large drive line loss, the Tranny. The best you will get is about 225 stock. Go to the GS forum and search. The same gearing, same VVTI but Factory rating is 300 hp not 290. You guys are dead wrong. Do some reasearch.
Also the 2006 Max has a 6 speed ver. I think 05 was 6 speed ver also. The car does a 6.3 to 6.0sec, 0-60 time bone stock. With mods ( I & E, Apexi ) could cut a 5.9sec 0-60. 3-4 cars lenghts with a SC400 which never showed test lower than 6.3 with that bad launch gearing. I not saying you did not beat him but........ beating him out of the hole 3-4 is strange. The Max is a little stock Rocket out of the hole.
Like I said at 1st post " Lots of misimformation here, let me clear some up ".
Peace out !

Actually, the 98-00 SC400s (and LS400s ) are definitely capable of sub 6 0-60 and mid 14s in the 1/4. These cars typically make 220-225rwhp vs. 200rwhp for 96-97 models (95 is in question on the SCs) and 175rwhp on earlier cars.
The Maximas are definitely capable of the same.
In the real world modern cars respond to many conditions including temp, fuel AND driving style. My LS gets quicker if I drive agressively for a few days and the ECU seems to respond. If the fuel is questionable it will slow down and if hot it will slow down. It is also tough to get an even start in any race and with cars that are close the advantage of a head start is hard to beat.

If you also read Sly Guy Yu's post he also thinks that the 290hp rating does not make for 220-225 rwhp.
FYI my modded 97 wooped my stock 98. But that same modded 97 barely took a 06 Max's from a dead stoplight up to about 80mph.
Won't be long before my stock 98 SC4 get's some experienced proven mods and maybe even the 125 shot again with some safety mods.

j I agree that the 98 - 00 are " capable " but best actuals I have ever seen are high 14s in the quater. Diving has alot to do with it. I've run a few newer Maximas 05 and up and I question equal driving skills, putting 4 car lenths lead with a SC4 from a dead start to 80 mph. The SC4 is a dog out of the hole and the Maxs rips.

I agree completely that a stock SC4 is not likely to walk away from an 06 Max in fact the other way around is more so.
I caught your earlier post about your 97 vs 98 and 06 Max... agreed as well.
Look forward to your 98 w/mods
