Help choose color
The two front wheels on the SC need re-chroming but I hate having to ship them out to California then wait over a month to get them back...plus pay almost 600 dollars. I'm thinking of going non-chrome for a change....painting the wheels instead of re-chroming. Still might cost 600 but it would be for all four. Help me choose a color. I'm leaning toward color matching with the beautiful platinum of the car but kinda think that may not work well on a wheel. Which would you choose:
Platinum
Silver
Black
Charcoal
Blue
Gold
Platinum
Silver
Black
Charcoal
Blue
Gold

Your color is very unique Reg. I'm not sure if darker colored wheels would look right on that bliush silver. Color match might look good. Can you see if someone can photoshop some colors on your wheels to see before you dive in?

Instead of getting them painted, I would highly recommend powdercoating. They actually look quite good, they sandblast the wheels before they go into the booth, and they all turn out exceptional. You'd be suprised at how durable the powdercoating process truly is. I had all of mine done on my SVT focus for around 450$, but then i had to get all of my wheels re-mounted and balanced.
But on topic, I would say a dark charcoal would look sexy on a platinum SC.

I agree, Adrian. I have seen pics of another platinum SC, it didn't look bad but it's not what I would prefer. I am leaning toward the color match. That definitely make the car more exclusive cause I haven't seen anyone with that combo. Besides, I haven't done any modding to the SC in 3 years...it's time for something to change.

Reggie...
Go with the color match. It will look the cleanest and the most custom.
A guideline I usually try to follow is if you're doing a mod that's expensive or difficult, choose the route that gives you the most custom result and bang for your buck.
In other words, if you color change your car, don't color change it to another factory color. You spend all the cash and it doesn't look anymore unique.
Same for wheels. If you're gonna spring for any color you can, go for the one that you KNOW is a custom job: color match.
Any other color looks like you just bought the wheels that way and settled.
And I second the powdercoat. Wheels are a harsh environment for paint to live. You will get chips.
Another perfectly fine option is the chrome. Nothing was ever wrong with that.
There are no Florida shops that will do that work for ya? Cali is far to go for that and I've seen what UPS and FedEx can do to wheels. My UPS driver launched my home theatre receiver and dvd player OVER his head and into my driveway from the back of his truck. I was in utter shock when I saw it. When confronted he said that's nothing compared to what happens in the sorting facilities. Insane.
