Please help with Parking lights
Good evening everyone, after being on club Lexus for the past years I finally am able to post on the forums....and just in time too. I have a 1992 sc300 in which I have a 97/98 bumper and fog lights. I wanted to connect these fog lights to work as fog lights so I spliced directly into the parking lights in the head lights. The result was that everything worked initally (approximately a day and a half) and then all of a sudden all the parking lights in the front died. I rewired the setup using the relay diagram AliGa linked me to (thanks again for that bro) but the fog lights dont turn on nor do the parking lights. Now the weird thing is that the rear parking lights and the rear plate light both work and according to the manual all the parking lights, the side marker lights, and the plate lights all run off fuse #12 in the driver footwell...and the fuse in mine is good. What do you guys think coud be causing just my front parking light and side marker lights to not work? I tested the wires and I get a weak power signal in one of the pins of the plugs for the headlight parking lights and both pins show to have a ground signal?!?
If anyone can help me track the problem I would really apprciate it.

Thanks guys, I changed one bulb in the headlight to see if it would make a difference but it didnt work. To my understanding the Lexus lights each work individual to themselfs so if one blows out the rest will remain. Did the searching thing too but nothing I came across seemed to relate to my sistuation....sooo still looking for a solution

Hey Proven,
Sorry to hear about your situation man, but believe me you ARE NOT ALONE. We've been trying to figure it out for quite a while. Check the diode mentioned in this thread here:

See if yours is burned out just like all of ours are.

gezzus. What you have done, I do not know, but buy a set of relays and do it right next time. WOW. two SPST relays or one DPDT relay will do. You can do a web search on how to make the relay work in a stand alone situation.
You need to check ALL your fuses for right now.

Finishing up the wiring on my relay but I had to come on here to say thanks to NYLexSC. It was that stupid diode that burnt out.....I pulled it out and it was melted! Needless to say the minute I changed it, everything worked again. I'm going to wire up the foglights nicer and mount the relay and wait for the sun to go down to go back out . Only question though is has anyone seen any issues tapping into the headlight parking lights as a signal wire to the relay? I would assume not since its just being used as a signal and not a power source but please let me know before something else melts due to my failure to ask before toying around.
Thanks again

I didnt get a part number for it but I had one laying around. The supra uses a similar setup for the parking lights. Mine melted beyond recognition (posting a pic tonight) so thats of no use. I see if I can access some from my local Lexus dealer or electric man. If I do I'll let you guys know.
