You don't have the Lexus part# on the meter from the receipt or box do you? Would be a great help, especially if you go to the parts guy and he says you have to order the whole gauge cluster.

yea, MadMaxSC400, do you have part number? that'll be great. you just got temp needle from lexus dealer? I heard that's impossible
I found this part number long time ago but I'm not sure so I wanna varify with somebody.

Fuel - 83243-24050
Speedo Assy - 83110-24050(?? I'm not sure which part, prolly whole unit?)

if anybody call part department by any chance, can you check if you can get those needle.. and price.

Hey guys. I've been reading the posts in regards to this
subject and I guess I must be a little slow. Would someone
please summarize for me.

Am I to understand that purchasing and installing a new
temperature meter, along with replacing the specific needle
that is "bad" would solve the problem and be much cheaper
that purchasing the entire cluster?

Is the problem that we can't get Lexus dealers to sell us only
the temperature meter and/or the needles? If so, I say we
band together and send a letter of protest to someone, the
better business bureau or someplace like that, to lodge a
complaint that Lexus is holding us hostage by making us
spend $400 when they know that the needle by itself is a
viable part that they can sell alone.

OK, I know this may sound like a lot of to do for nothing, but
damn, I'm sick and (insert 4-letter curse word) tired of these
bastards trying to hold us hostage in the first place.

In closing, please give me and all of us with this problem hope,
someone please summarize exactly what parts, if we could get
them by themselves, will enable us to return our dash to the
way it was intended to be. Thanks.

Yes you can order the part separately. Any dealer that says otherwise is LYING to you. If it gets too much to deal with you can call Lexus customer relations, or go to a Toyota shop/another dealer to get the part and go from there.
The needle assemblies are modular, you can remove a number of components and replace them instead of replacing the whole thing.

Dang, I've been following these posts about flickering or burnt out needles. I just replaced my gauge lights about a month ago but, since you guys have so much trouble with flickering needles. I keep my gauge lights at minimum brightness. If one goes, won't the others? There are 4 needles right? -Gas level, Speedometer, RPM, and Temp needle

MadMax, did you ever find out why the Temp needle went out in the first place? I just want to know for further reference if, I bump into the problem. I didn't pay much attention to the needle lights when I installed the gauge bulbs but, do they use a LED bulb?

Replacing the needles would be cheaper if, the parts are about the same price as you paid for the temp. needle. Hopefully, it is just a temp needle burnout but, I have to wonder why it burnt out in the first place and if the others will also.

I think (i'm not sure) the temp needle is the cheapest one. and Fuel needle goes around $160.
I dont know about other two needles.

I think they use an early version of an electroluminescent (think Indiglo from timex watches, but brighter) strip that eventually burns out. The way it's hooked up isn't very good either, it uses screws in a plastic board to hold the contacts on the circuit board. If there's anything the instrument cluster is, it's easy to work on. LED lights have a theoretical service life of 100000 hours, but I don't know if anyone's ever seen one actually burn out.
I might elect to try high output LED's in the instrument cluster if the bulbs ever burn out.

Taka looks Great! Which bulb did you replace to get the blue needles? Are you going to try a new background (ex: speedo readings) with a different color?

Well I wanna make it clear -- It's not the bulb that is blue. :P I got this "reflecting white tape".and I put them on needle. I just put 2 blue LED lights (like this, but not exactly same, http://www.xtremewhite.com/ORD-Auto~...64-1-1-1-1.cfm) behind the steering wheel so blue light reflect on white tape on needle so needle LOOKS like blue. Currently this LED lights get power from cig. socket. so somehow I wanna install them inside speed meter and get power from other location.(no idea where for now). it's not really $5. the LED lights cost around $30-50, i dont remember, so chances are gavin's(https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=28051) light would be better looking and cost efficient. I'm waiting for his product
